Important! Remove solenoid vvalve from m CO2 gas system pilot cylin nder to avvoid
aaccidental discharge
d during
d test proceduree and dismantle conneection hosee between pilot p
ccylinder and
d the first CO
C 2 cylindder.
55.1 Check operation of o each dam mper installed with thee test zone. Check stro
oking of dam
mper
from fully
f open position too fully clossed positionn. Confirm damper clloses on poower
failure if there is application
a oof air ductin
ng damper.
55.2 Confirm
m correct faault monitorring of soleenoid config
guration (oppen circuit fault).
f
55.3 Confirm
m there aree no alarms present on CO2 panel and system
m is operatin
ng normallyy and
system
m is in autom
matic mode.
55.4 Simulaate power faailure to COO2 panel by isolating in
ncoming pow wer supply at local isolator
or fusee. Confirm system conntinues to opperate norm mally on batattery supply
y and alarmms or
alerts are
a receivedd at fire alarrm and BMSS panel if appplicable.
55.5 Simulaate activatio
on of each smoke dettector in turn using thhe SOLO 330-001
3 aerrosol
dispennser with SO
OLO aerosoll A10.
 Unscrew and a remove the retainerr cup of SOLO 330-00 1.
Page 2 off 4

 Place the aerosol spray SOLO A10 canister in the container.
 Replace the retainer cup and screw upwards.
 Adjust until the aerosol activates and unscrew slightly.
 Insert the SOLO 330-001 pole into a SOLO 100/101/108 telescopic access pole.
 Place the SOLO 330-001 over the smoke detector and press upwards to activate
the aerosol (a one second burst).
 If the detector has not responded in 10 seconds, repeat the test every 10 seconds.
The number of total sprays should not exceed 5. If the detector fails to activate,
check the equipment and repeat. If the detector still does not activate it may
require further investigation or replacement.
 Verify alarm received at CO2 gas system control panel ‘First Stage Alarm’.
 Verify local bell sounds and flashing light flashes correctly. Confirm alarm
received at main fire alarm panel and BMS if applicable.
5.6 Remove each smoke detector head in turn from its base and confirm fault alarm is
received at CO2 panel, main fire alarm panel and BMS panel if applicable.
5.7 Simulate activation of each heat detector in turn using the SOLO 461-001 cordless
battery powered tester.
 Insert a charged battery baton into the SOLO 461-001 and then insert the battery
baton into a SOLO 100/101/108 telescopic access pole.
 Be caution and ensure correct orientation when inserting battery into tool and do
not use undue force to insert.
 Press the red switch to turn on the unit. The LED will illuminate green. If it
flashes at a slow rate the unit is in STANDBY mode.
 Adjust the angle by pressing the red latch so that the transparent cup will be
horizontal with the detector or ceiling plane during testing.
 The SOLO 461-001 will automatically start when the infra-red beam in the cup is
broken. The green LED will flash faster until the alarm is activated.
 When the detector alarms, remove the SOLO461-001 from the detector. The
green LED will flash slowly as the internal blower cools the heating element.
After testing switch the unit off using the red button to conserve battery life.
 Verify alarm received at CO2 gas system control panel ‘First Stage Alarm’.
 Verify local bell sounds and flashing light flashes correctly. Confirm alarm
received at main fire alarm panel and BMS if applicable.
5.8 Simulate correct coincidence zoning by simulating activation of two detectors allocated
within the same zone and verify system state remains at first stage alarm only. This
procedure will be carried out for each zone.
5.9 Confirm correct coincidence operation by simulating activation of two detectors
allocated within different zones and confirm the following stages of alarm.
5.10 First smoke detector activation:
 First stage alarm received at CO2 system control panel
 CO2 system alarm received at main fire alarm panel
 Common fire alarm received at BMS panel if applicable
 Local alarm bell sounds and flashing light flashes
5.11 Second heat detector activation in separate zones:
 Second stage alarm received at CO2 system control panel
 Local alarm bell operate
 Room evacuation lights illuminate
 Time delay relay commences countdown (30 second delay)
Page 3 of 4

 CO2 system panel send signal to shut fire dampers and trip air conditioning /
ventilation equipment if applicable.
 Automatic damper close and air conditioning / ventilation equipment stop as
designed.
 Solenoid valve opens releasing gas from pilot cylinder (simulation only by
measuring activation voltage at solenoid valve)
 Gas discharged lamp lit.
 Gas discharged signal received by main fire alarm panel
 Gas discharged signal received by BMS if applicable
5.12 Reset system and confirm all functions return to normal. Dampers are in normal mode,
all alarms are cleared and air conditioning / ventilation equipment is reset and restarted.
5.13 With system reset, override system to manual mode. Confirm panel receives notification
of ‘System in Manual’ and any remote status indication changes state accordingly. Alarm
received at BMS (if applicable) and main fire alarm panel.
5.14 Activate the key switch and verify the function operation below:
 Room evacuation lights illuminate
 Time delay relay commences countdown (30 seconds delay)
 CO2 system send signal to shut fire dampers and trip air conditioning / ventilation
equipment if applicable
 Local alarm bell operate
 Automatic dampers close and air conditioning / ventilation equipment is tripped
as design
 Solenoid valve opens releasing gas from pilot cylinder (simulation only by
measuring activation voltage at solenoid valve)
 Gas discharged lamp is lit
 Gas discharge signal received by main fire alarm panel
 Gas discharged signal received by BMS is applicable
