IN NAILBITER OVER GIANTS
Wellington,NZ | The Wellington Diesels got home in a squeaker against the Gold
Coast Giants 20-14. This game was in the balance for most of the contest and even
became wild during the third quarter when three successive drives saw interceptions
by both teams with no one knowing what was going to happen next.

In all honesty, the Diesels won all three phases of competition. Isaiah Spiller there big
American running back was the most dominant player on the field. He regularly set
the Diesels up with powerful charges on first down. He ran for 80 yards from 20
attempts and scored the go ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter. “I think so”
Spiller said when asked if this was his best game. “It is starting to come together. I am
getting more comfortable in this system. The boy are getting to know me and I am
getting to know them”.

Wellington won the early battle for field position and a 9 play drive starting at mid
field ended with Brad Watts zigging back to the corner and getting open for the score.
