EDITOR'S COMMENTS

The work brings important information about bacteria attacking citrus. Some adjustments are
required.

a) Rewrite the title: Quorum quenching bacteria: an approach for phytopathogens control in citrus
b) If possible, add images of symptoms caused by different bacteria in citrus.
c)Make a profund review of english spell and grammar on your text.
d) There are sentences and paragraphs with no citation. Moreover, a source to figure 2 must be
added.
e) In the abstact change the sentence "Cell to cell communication system Quorum sensing (QS), it
denotes the ability of bacteria to track the population density in order … " to "Cell to cell
communication system Quorum sensing (QS) denotes the ability of bacteria to track the population
density in order...
f) Describe the meaning of acronyms when they first appear, including in the abstract. Also,
describe the meaning of Xcc and AI (from AI synthase).
g) In introduction, change the folowing sentence :Disruption of quorum sensing communication system
termed quorum quenching, it leads reduction in virulence factors expression without to compromise
bacterial survival to: "Disruption of quorum sensing communication system termed quorum quenching
leads to reduction in virulence factors expression without compromising bacterial survival".
h) In the sentence "Because a wide diversity of bacterial cells that use QS display a significant
competitive advantage over other prokaryotes and eukaryotes in which they coexist in the same
ecological niche, it is rational that the contender microorganisms have developed mechanism to
disrupt the QS communication systems present in the ecological niche" remove the word "been " from
have been developed mechanism.
i) In the following paragraph " Citrus is the most commercialized horticultural product.... Remove
the word "a" from "a devasting bacterial diseases". Besides, when mentioning microrganisms and
respective diseseases, change the word "produce" to "caused".
j) Make an approach about xanthomonadins
k) In the first paragraph of Citrus canker and DSF Quorum Sensing pathway in Xcc, use bacterial
canker instead of bacterial citrus
l) Rewrite the sentences: Pathognomonic symptoms of BCC type A are the raised corky and spongy
lessons surrounded by a water-soaked margin. Which are present in leaves and fruits. A sentence must
not be not start with “which”.
m) Rewrite the following paragraph The bacterium Xcc is outfitted with a vast arsenal of organelles
responsible for the pathogenicity in citrus host, among them the main recognized are: bacterial
attachment, antagonism, effector production, quorum sensing regulation, and biofilm formation. It is
confuse. It approaches about effects insetad of organelles.
n) The sentence"For a deep revision of virulence factors in Xcc " is incomplete. Rewrite it.
o) Figure 1 must be mentioned in the text. Put the description of the cis and trans DSF in the text
instead of legend of figure 1.
p) Do not separate in two parts the the paragraph of DSF perpection and signal transduction. Add the
whole paragraph and below it the figure 2 .
q) Rewrite the sentence: CVC is transmitted by (i) Propagative vegetative material: A paradigm of
accidental long distance propagation of phytopathogen is the CVC, this is mainly due to the movement
of infected plant material by human [22] and (ii) Insect vector borne: vectors of Xf are xylem sap
sucking insects that belong to the Hemiptera order including sharpshooter, leafhoppers and
spittlebugs". It is a too long sentence.
r) Change the sentence: "Cell to cell communication system in X. fastidiosa implicating the
production of DSF to" cell to cell communication system in X. fastidiosa is implicated in the
production of DSC
s) In the text is mentioned that X. fastidiosa only attacks Sweet Orange. Nevertheless, it is later
mentioned that this bacterium attacks grapefruit. Review those informations.
t) The text mentions about a table that does not exist in the manuscript.
u) Define what are apoplastic cells..
