1. Aim :- Configure and understand working of network devices Hub, Switch, Routers

2. Software Requirements:
Packet Tracer

3. Hardware Requirements:
•Processor – Any suitable Processor e.g., Celeron
•Main Memory - 128 MB RAM
•Hard Disk – minimum 20 GB IDE Hard Disk
• Removable Drives–1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive
–52X IDE CD-ROM Drive •PS/2
HCL Keyboard and Mouse

4. Procedure:
Step 1:
Open Cisco Packet Tracer and create a new network topology.

Step 2:
Drag and drop a hub/switch from the "End Devices" section onto the workspace.

Step 3:
Add 5 devices to the topology, such as PCs or laptops, by dragging and dropping them onto the
workspace.

Step 4:
Connect each device to the hub using a straight-through cable. To do this, click on the device, select
the "FastEthernet0" interface, and then click and drag the cable to the hub.

Step 5:
Once all devices are connected to the hub, select one of the devices and open the command prompt.

Step 6:
Type "ipconfig" to view the IP address of the device.

Step 7:
Repeat step 6 for all other devices to view their IP addresses.

Step 8:
Choose one device to be the sender and another to be the receiver.

Step 9:
Open the command prompt on the sender device and type "ping" followed by the IP address of the
receiver device.

Observe the packet transmission by looking at the "Activity" tab of the hub. You should see the
sender device send packets to the hub, which then forwards them to all other devices connected to
the hub.

Step 11:
Once the receiver device receives the packets, it will send a response back to the sender device.

Step 12:
Observe the packet transmission again in the hub's "Activity" tab.
