ACTIVITY M-1
Think of present political issue in our country, discuss how it affects the culture,
values and human rights.
The Philippines is in the middle of battling record inflation, something which
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr says is “out of control”.
For many Filipinos, the increasing cost of basic commodities was that of a
“developed nation”.
Prices rises due to many reasons like lack of supply, weather condition,
consumer preferences and technology. If economic growth accelerates very rapidly,
demand grows even faster and producers raise prices continually. Economic growth is
essentially a situation when both total demand for spending could be in some form of
imbalance with the expansion of output, which in essence is the level of supply. As long
as that imbalance is not large, the process of growth and development is sustainable
and within a range of relative price stability.
Having an issue with products that are expensive, but employees aren't being
paid highly in their salaries. We can’t control the price going up and we can’t make sure
if it is worth to stay on where you are. The fact that some Filipinos cannot earn enough
money to support themselves causes them to travel to countries where they can earn
enough money to pay all of their debts, which has an impact on our culture. We can’t
control the fact that we are all need to work hard to buy things and goods to survive.
The pride of being a Filipino through this kind of issue feels so ungrateful. The values of
being on of a citizen and an employee here in the Philippines affects the emotions and
minds of everyone living here. We can’t fight for the rights of being a Filipino. Our own
culture taking us from different country for us to make a good living.
To sustain this inflation, the government must generate more jobs and relay on
local jobs. More jobs means more employment and eventually bigger taxes collection.
