Chocolate orange marble cake.

Ingredients

225g soft butter, plus extra for greasing


225g caster sugar
450g self raising flour
4 large eggs
2 tbsp milk
3 tbsp cocoa powder, sifted
1 large oranges, zest and 1 tbsp orange juice
50g chocolate orange, broken into pieces

Method

Step 1

Heat oven to 180c or fan oven 160c, gas mark 4.


Grease and line cake tin, with grease proof paper.
Beat the butter, sugar, eggs and flour together in a large bowl with an electric whisk or food
processor until lump free.

Step 2

Split mixture into two bowls, beat in the milk, followed by the cocoa powder into one.
Beat the orange juice, zest and chocolate orange into the other.

Step 3

Spoon mixtures into cake tin, alternating the mixtures, then use a skewer to create a marble
pattern by dragging it through the mixture in swirls. Smooth surface if necessary.

Step 4

Bake the cake for 45-55 minutes, until golden and risen, and a skewer poked in comes out
clean.

Step 5

Leave the cake in the tin to cool, then turn out.


Chocolate Sauce

Prep 3 mins

Cook 5 mins

Total time 8 mins

Ingredients

3 tablespoons cocoa powder (20grams)


150 grams caster sugar
150ml double cream

Method

Add cream to saucepan on low heat, add sugar.


Use a sieve to add the cocoa powder in.
Using a whisk stir the mixture and increase heat to medium.
Continue to heat for 5 mins stirring regularly.

Leave to cool and serve when ready.
