Flower Fair

History: The first Flower Fair that was held in Medellín

was on May 1, 1957, as it was the month assigned to
flowers. It lasted five days and it was something
incipient because it lacked the brightness of the
current one. However, with booths in various places in
the city and with private parties in social clubs,
Antioqueños enjoyed the magic of flowers.
In addition, the Silleteros Parade began, with the
participation of 40 peasants.
Over time, the Fair has gained strength, becoming one
of the most important celebrations in Colombia and
one of great prestige abroad. This activity, which
initially took place in May, was carried out starting in
1958 in August, the month of the Independence of
Antioquia.
In addition, other acts have been incorporated that
have given it prominence such as the parade of classic
and old cars, the exhibition of orchids, birds and
flowers and the tablados.

bears the general name of "Flower
Fair" since flowers are the main
frame of the festivities, while
