Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

RADIOGRAPHIC PROCEDURE OF OSS HUMERUS

AND SHOULDER JOINT

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

After studying this module, you are expected to be able to generate

images oss humerus and shoulder joint. But before you are expected more can
first explain the meaning of examination of the oss humerus and shoulder joint,
the purpose of the examination oss humerus and shoulder joint, anatomy
Examination of oss humerus and shoulder joint, indications and
contraindications Examination of the oss humerus and shoulder joint,
preparatory procedures, steps, radiographic criteria, radiation protection oss
humerus and shoulder joint examination.
From mastery of radiographic examination oss humerus and shoulder
joint of the superior extremity, You are expected to be able to produce
diagnostic images of the superior extremity examination to support the clinical
diagnosis of abnormalities Examination of the superior extremity

MODULE OVERVIEW

This module contains:

Overview of oss humerus and shoulder joint examination

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION

1. Definition
It is the science that studies grammar how to examine the humerus os with use
x-rays to enforce diagnosis.

1
Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

2. Anatomy

3. Indications

Indications for this examination include:

 Clasification
 Fracture
 pathological disorder

PRACTICE STEPS

A. The Equipment :
The equipment that needs to be prepared for an ossa antebrachi and articulatio
cubiti is as follows:
o X-ray machine
o Cassette and film 24 x 30 cm
o Load divider
o Markers
B. Patient Preparation

The inspected area is free of objects metal

C. Inspection Technique

2
Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

1. Humerus

 AP Supine Projection
o Patient Position: The patient's position is supine above examination
table with arms photographed abduction and swallowing supine hand.
o Object Position : - Place the humerus in the middle cassette with the second
set the medial condyle is not rotated.
- The head turns to an object that is not taken a picture.
o Central Ray : perpendicular to the cassette.
o Central Point : The middle of humerus
o FFD : 100 cm

 AP Erect Projection
o Patient Position: The patient's position is standing standard cassette /
bucky stand with abducted arm and palms supinated (position anatomy).
o Object Position : - Place the humerus in the middle cassette with the second
set the medial condyle is not rotated.
- The head turns to an object that is not taken a picture.
o Central Ray : horizontal perpendicular to the cassette.
o Central Point : The middle of humerus
o FFD : 100 cm

3
Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

o Description criteria:

 Lateral Erect Projection.

o Patient Position: The patient's position is standing standard cassette /
bucky stand with flexed arm and palms pressed against waist.
o Object Position : - Place the humerus in the middle cassette with the second
set the medial condyle is not rotated.
- The head turns to an object that is not
taken a picture.
o Central Ray : perpendicular to the cassette.
o Central Point : Middle of humerus
o FFD : 100 cm

4
Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

o Description criteria:

2. Shoulder Joint

 AP Eksorotasi Projection.
o Patient Position: The patient sits sideways from the examination table
o Object Position : Position hand supinated and exorcized entire patient's arm so that the
epicondyle is parallel in the plane cassette.
o Central Ray : perpendicular to the cassette.
o Central Point : Between the Glenoid Fossa and the Humeral Head
(ScapuloHumeral joints)
o FFD : 100 cm

5
Radiographic Technique of the extremities and spine

o Description criteria:

Clavicula, scapula, coracoid visible Process, Scapulohumeral joint(Caput Humerus and

Glenoid Fossa) and Distal Humerus.

SUMMARY

1. The humerus is the upper arm that connects the radius and ulna,
called the elbow joint. While the connection between the humerus and the shoulder
is the shoulder joint.

EVALUATION

2. Evaluate all procedures and radiograph results obtained by making practice
