What I have Learned about Psychological Perspective of Self

In the first video or lesson, I have learned that Psychology is a scientific study of human
behavior and I have learned that in psychology, the notion of the self refers to a
person's experience as a single, unitary, autonomous being that is separate from others,
experienced with continuity through time and place. The experience of the self includes
consciousness of one's physicality as well as one's inner character and emotional life. I
have learned the psychology of the self is the study of the cognitive or affective
representation of one's identity. In modern psychology, the earliest formulation of the
self derived from the distinction between the self as “I,” the subjective knower, and the
self as “me,” the object that is known. In my own idea psychological perspective of
yourself is the experience of oneself that is being separate to others. I also learned that
the difference between psychology is the studying mental processes and development
and it is inward while sociology is studying roles and relationship and it is tend to look
outward. Freud is a influencial person who said that personality and sexual development
are closely linked. I have learned that there are 3 structures of personality according to
Freud . Freud study is no longer talk into scientific purposes. I have learned that when
you do the fetal position you go back to regression. If you go to the real world when you
try to analyze a person do not base on one simple behavioral action or simple context.
Knowing the different kinds of defense mechanism can help a lot. For me, Projection is
the strongest mechanism to one person since it will you project persons personality by
talking to your certain views to each other. In the Video I see that there are four
temperements according to Hippocrates and it is the melancholic who is easily depress
and phelegmatic is calm and slow , choleric is the nervous type and lastly sanguine the
optimistic. For me, I am a phelegmatic while being sanguine since I am optimistic at the
same time calm. And according to Erickson there are 8 stages of development. In the
Video it stated that Carl Rogers is the one who captured the idea of the concept of self
schema and he believes that there are three components the Self image, Worth and
Ideal self. All in all at the end of the video I have learned that the capacity of humans to
exercise introspection and the willingness to learn more about their fundamental
nature, purpose and essence. Human self-reflection invariably leads to inquiry into the
human condition and the essence of humankind as a whole.
