Reflection #2

These past two weeks we have visited our buddies and done very fun activities with them. Last
week we got to join their class on their Baker Drive Bears Cares walk as they dropped off cards
for houses in the neighbourhood. This day was very hot, and both of my buddies loved being
outside. They were singing songs, and both wanted to hold my hand, which was great for me as
it can be difficult to keep up with both buddies and I didn’t want them on the road with the cars.
They became a bit tired on our way back and Elias was coming up with many ways to entertain
himself including dancing with me by spinning around my arm, not stepping on any cracks as
well as playing I Spy. Both of my buddies were very engaged and talkative during the walk
outside. I tried my best to keep them entertained so I was asking questions about their families as
well as what they want to be when they grow up. My buddies have grown a connection with me
as on this walk, they asked me to have a play date with them on the weekend. It was also very
sentimental to see all the little buddies playing together in the park when we got back, and it
made me nostalgic. I was able to see great responsibility and awareness on this walk which can
be connected to their play. Being patient and understanding were things we talked about outside
as we waited our turn to drop off the cards. Both my buddies are very mature and listen great to
my instructions, something that can be reflected/connected to their play.

When we visited this week to do the Mother’s Day bouquet, Elias was sick, so it was just
Cedrick at school. He was in a happy but silly mood that day and I was laughing with him lots.
He was very engaged during this activity; however, it was hard to get him to think of some
serious prompts instead of jokes. In the end, we did get some meaningful ideas and I was able to
hear some very silly stories about him and his mom. He did need some help cutting out the
flowers as he wasn’t cutting the smaller details. It was nice to have one visit where I was able to
give my undivided attention to Cedrick and I think he enjoyed this time as well. It fills my heart
when we are leaving as he shows me how much I actually mean to him by hugging me and
drawing me cute drawings.
