The Old Ipoh Post Office building located on Jalan

Dato' Sagor is actually part of the Ipoh Town Hall
building which was later divided into two parts. The
front part remains as the Ipoh Town Hall while the
back part is used as the Post Office. This building is
located opposite the Railway Station and was
erected at the same time as the High Court (on the
right). The Post Office building was designed by
British architect A.B Hubback, first built in 1913 and
completed in 1916. The position of this building is in
the center of the old town of Ipoh which was the
main government administrative area during the
British era. It is so strategic because it is on the
heritage trail (Heritage Trail) of historic buildings in
the City of Ipoh where the Ipoh Railway Station,
Town Hall, State Mosque, Traffic Police
Headquarters, British Clock Tower, Ipoh High Court
building and bank buildings are located.
commercial. All of these colonial buildings feature
an attractive European architectural style.

This building has a unique architecture because it is

characterized by Roman and Renaissance
architecture. This two-story building is also
surrounded by open arcades or verandahs on the
upper and lower floors. The arcade is decorated
with columns and semicircular arches highlighting
Greek and Roman features.

The verandah wall (balcony balustrade) on the upper floor is built in a simple victorian pattern. In addition, there are also
half-round windows (Arch-headed windows) with glass panels built around the building. The postal service in the building
ceased operations in 1983 and the building was taken over by the Perak State Tourism Center until 1995. Since that year, the
building has been left empty without maintenance. Accordingly, it has experienced leaks and damage to the gable roof, the
rainwater channel has broken, the floorboards are rotting, and trees have grown inside the buildiing.
