A. Piping materials shall bear label, stamp, or other markings of specified testing agency.
B. Comply with NSF 14 for plastic, potable domestic water piping and components. Include marking
"NSF-pw" on piping.
C. Comply with NSF 61 for potable domestic water piping and components.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
A. Comply with requirements in "Piping Schedule" Article for applications of pipe, tube, fitting
materials, and joining methods for specific services, service locations, and pipe sizes.
B. All piping sizing shall be carried out as per ADUPC and RSB requirement and shall be submitted
by Contractor for Engineer’s review and approval prior to any material selection and procurement.
C. ADQCC and WRAS approval certification shall be submitted for all pipes and fittings.
D. All pipes and fittings shall be provided with BSI kite marked labelled.
A. PEX Distribution System: ASTM F 877 (or Equivalent British/European/German Standards), SDR
9, PN16 tubing.
1. The inner pipe shall be a cross link polyethylene pipe withstanding up to 95 deg. C at a max.
pressure of 10 bar without deformation or damage. Short time temperature loading up to
110-degree C.
2. The pipe shall be resistant to all-natural constituents of drinking water to DIN 2000,
disinfectants and cleaning agents to DVWG – W291 and DIN 2000, anti-corrosion agents to
DIN 1988 T4 (E) and common building materials, such as mortar, cement and plaster.
3. The pipe manufacturer shall offer minimum of 50 years guarantee for the pipes and 10 years
guarantee for the complete system.
4. All pipes shall be stamped on equal intervals showing clearly the name of the manufacturers
along with the pressure and temperature rating of these pipes.
5. All pipes shall be laid so that the 16mm PEX water pipe can be replaced, if necessary.
B. Fittings for PEX Tube: ASTM F 1807 (or Equivalent British/European/German Standards), metal-
insert type with copper crimp rings and matching PEX tube dimension.
1. Pipes shall be connected to the different fittings via a wall box of reinforced plastic fitted with
bronze elbow suitable for 15mm or 20mm threaded connection. The box should be suitably
designed in order to enable the replacement of existing pipes in the even of their damage.
2. All valves, box elbows, tees, bends shall be of bronze or Dezincification Brass (DZR).
Connection shall be of a cone grip unions type allowing full flow capacity, minimum pressure
loss, easily detachable with torque clearly defined for a fool proof installation.
3. Contractor shall use proper tools for assembly as recommended by manufacturer, ie.
Assembly pliers, Ratchet torque wrench, cutters, etc.
A. Domestic cold-water piping for below grade installation between the connection point of ADDC and
the meter shall be High Density Polyethylene Pipes (HDPE) and shall comply with the
requirements of ISO 4427 type PE 100 SDR 11 (standard dimension ratio) or BS 6730. All the pipe
& fitting dimension in the drawings are Nominal Outer Diameter OD (mm)
1. The pipes shall be suitable for use above ground and underground installation for drinking
water at a working pressure up to 16 bar at 20°C or 12 bars at 35°C.
2. The pipe nominal size and wall thickness shall be as shown in the drawings.
3. The minimum required strength (MRS) of the polyethylene pipe shall be 8 MPa at 20°C and
50 years lifetime. The design stress shall be 6.3 MPa.
4. The pipes shall be manufactured from polyethylene containing only those antioxidants, UV
stabilisers and pigments necessary for the manufacturing of the pipes.
a. Polyethylene pipes shall be black colour. The carbon black content in the compound
shall be 2.25 + 0.25 % by mass when measured in accordance with ISO 6964. The
dispersion of carbon black when determined in accordance with ISO 11420 shall be
equal to or less than grade 3.
b. The thermal stability of polyethylene material shall meet the requirements of ISO
4427.
c. If rework material is added or used, it shall be clean, derived from the same resin and
reground under the supervision of the same manufacturer and shall be compatible
with the material to which it is added.
d. The material of the polyethylene pipe which is in contact with or likely to come in
contact with drinking water shall not constitute a toxic hazard, shall not support
microbial growth and shall not give rise to unpleasant test or odour, cloudiness or
discoloration of the water.
e. The concentration of substances, chemical and biological agents leached from
materials in contact with drinking water, and measurement of the relevant
organoletpic
f. / physical parameters, shall not exceed the maximum values recommended by the
World Health Organisation in its
g. Polyethylene pipes shall be clearly marked at intervals of one meter indicating the
manufacturer name, nominal diameter, standard number, pipe class, pressure rating
