For sludges from municipal, industrial and potable water Enhancement Packages
treatment plants The economics of sludge treatment operation may justify
Reduces sludge volume the addition of one or more of the enhancement packages:
Average capacity for normal dewatering duties 150 - 270 m3/h Enhanced dewatering package Achieve higher cake dry-

Continuous operation and automatic control Enhanced thickening package With this package it is
Compact, modular design possible to lower the polymer costs. Use of polymer is re-
duced and is in some cases no longer necessary.
Alfa Laval offers the most cost-effective, high performance Enhanced wear protection package Maintenance costs

Working Principle
Separation takes place in a horizontal bowl equipped with a
screw conveyor ➊.
The sludge is fed into the bowl through a stationary feed
tube ➋ and smoothly accelerated by the inlet distributor ➌.
Centrifugal force causes sedimentation of the solids on the
wall of the bowl ➍.
The conveyor and the bowl rotate in the same direction, but
at different speeds. This conveys the solids to the conical

end of the bowl ➎.
Here the solids are lifted out of the liquid and are centrifu-
gally dewatered before being discharged into the casing.
The clarified liquid overflows into the casing through open- Dimensions
ings in the end of the bowl ➏.

Drive System
An electrical motor and a V-belt transmission drive the
