2 nd NATIONAL METALS and ENGINEERING

We are celebrating Metals and Engineering (M&E) Week with a heightened passion for advancing
research and development (R&D) and studies in the field of metals and engineering. Following the
success of the 1 st National Metals and Engineering Conference (NMEC), this year’s NMEC will feature
research works that put forward the role of the metals and engineering industry in shaping a more
sustainable and innovative economy.

The DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center is inviting researchers to submit original
and unpublished papers on the theme ‘Metals and Engineering Industry Propelling the Economy
Toward Innovativeness and Sustainability’ for presentation in the 2 nd NMEC to be held at Acacia Hotel
Manila, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa, on June 22, 2023, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
To be featured in the 2nd NMEC are papers that
focus on any of the following fields:
Agriculture
Industrial/Manufacturing
Transport
Health and Defense
Other fields where metals and engineering find useful application

The results of R&D initiatives and studies in any of these fields can boost the economy significantly,
especially during these times when the country is getting back on its feet despite the continuing effects
of the pandemic.

Authors of papers that will qualify for presentation in the 2 nd NMEC also have the privilege to publish
their paper in the DOST-MIRDC’s Philippine Metals, a non-peer-reviewed publication, which will be
released by December 2023.

Dates to remember:
April 18, 2023 - deadline for submission of the Abstract (250 words)
May 19, 2023 - deadline for submission of a full paper of accepted entries (full papers are required to
comply with the format provided in the 2023 M&E Week website)
