(Resolving the Water Pollution Crisis in the Philippines: The Implications of Water Pollution on
Public Health and the Economy)

I. INTRODUCTION

Every moveable drop of water is precious, and access to clean water is necessary for human
habitation. Due to a combination of human, environmental, and overpopulation-related activities, the
majority of water bodies in the Philippines have been contaminated. The government is aware of the
issue of water contamination, but they are limited in what they can do to combat it and prevent it. Its
implications and effects on local residents' health include exposing them to waterborne pollutants,
which are thought to be the source of around one-third of all illnesses in the nation. The virus and
bacteria that are present in the drinker may cause cholera, cholera-like symptoms, and other skin
conditions.
