It started during 18th century in Britain and spread later to Western Europe and United States.
Workers were forced to indulge in monotonous and repetitive work activities. Workers were
treated earlier as machines and not as resources.The industrial revolution witnessed ill
treatment and exploitation of workers.
2. Trade Unionism:
Workers joined together to form trade unions to protect their interests. The movement started
within the era of industrial revolution as there were common worker demands. The origin of
Trade unions can be traced back to 18th century in Europe and later it spread to many other
parts of the world.
7. HR Approach:
HR rooted itself strongly in the theoretical background of earlier researches backed by
support from industrialists and professional associations. The oldest HR association is the
"Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development" started in 1913 in England.
