CFA Access Scholarship

• Scholarship window (17th January to 14th February) on https://www.cfainstitute.org/

• You have to apply answering some questions and then paste your 250 word essay.
• Approval/Rejection will be communicated by 31st March 2023.
• ANYONE (Fresher / Repeater) can apply for ANY LEVEL of CFA Exam. If approved,
you just have to pay $250. If rejected, they may still give u early bird discount to
register even after early bird offer is shut.

Tips for 250 word essay:

While financial need will be strongly considered, awards may be based on a
combination of factors:
• financial need;
• the academic, professional, or other accomplishments of the candidate;
• obstacles overcome by the candidate;
• contributions to the local community;
• the candidate’s interest in pursuing the CFA charter;
• other personal characteristics that indicate the individual is a strong candidate to
receive an Access Scholarship and become a CFA charterholder.

Here are 3 samples essays written by my students who got scholarship. If

copied directly, it may lead to straight rejection. So kindly draft a unique essay.

Sample Essay #1
My career objective is to become leading Investment Adviser with great intellectual
resources and skills. Currently I am in my last year of graduation, I have been curious
reader about finance & investment I got to know about CFA course from my college
Professor after getting detailed information about CFA I concluded to pursue CFA. I
come from humble background where my family financial condition is not capable to
pay my CFA course fees my father worked extremely hard to provide me with the
opportunity to pursue graduation and he is the only earning person in my family with
salary of 320$ per month (25000INR). I’ve been consistent performer throughout my
education and always featured among the brightest minds despite having limited
resources. I keep myself up to date with the Finance & investment related subjects
available on other open sources. The distinguishing knowledge of CFA shall broaden
my scope to provide investment assistance to the community. Ethics imbibed in CFA
will help me become a better manager in fostering, enabling environment for investing.
The skills acquired will result in more efficient performance for my future organization
and also financial stability to my profile which will help me to serve my dependent
parents. My determination accompanied with CFA Access scholarship would help me
achieve the charter by the age of 24 (currently 21) as I would otherwise spend along
period saving up for the exam fees due to my current financial status. I request you to
sponsor my certification through scholarship and help me become the representative

Sample Essay #2
I’m an Indian Chartered accountant & I wish to pursue CFA in the upcoming year 2023.
My career aspirations are to become a fund manager & set up an Asset management
Company to build wealth in the nation & contribute to India’s GDP. Currently, I work
as a Credit Analyst with CRISIL Ltd. Previously, I’ve also had the opportunity to work
with India’s leading IB/broker (Anand Rathi Financial Services Ltd) in its equity portfolio
management division. To give some insight about me, I come from a very humble
background where my family struggled to make ends meet but my parents knew the
importance of education so managed to pay for my education by borrowing money
from our relatives. My father is visually disabled, my mother is a homemaker &
unfortunately not literate enough to pursue any skilled job that pays well, so my parents
are financially dependent on me. Growing up, I had to self learn and tutor myself for
lot of things, including the CA course. I have been a consistent performer in all my
academic endeavours and have completed two levels (A1 & A2) of German language
with the help of scholarships. On the extra curricular front, I am an International FIDE
Rated chess player with an ELO of 1320. My volunteering experiences include working
for an NGO-Dr. Nana Saheb Dharmadhikari pratistan that focuses on Tree plantation
drives, Swachh Bharat abhiyan (Clean India), etc. I wish to earn the CFA Charter that
will help me achieve my career objectives to become a global professional. I am
applying for access scholarship mainly due the fact that the priority for my current
earnings will be to utilise the same to repay existing debt from relatives and towards
daily household expenses which would render me unable to save for CFA Exam fees.
Additionally, my employer does not fund CFA course for my current profile. I do not
wish for my personal struggles to hamper my professional aspirations and therefore, I
sincerely request you to consider my application for access scholarship to

My name is _____________ having a keen interest towards finance and looking
forward to move into the corporate world of finance as financial planner/ advisor. I work
as a _________ with Ernst & Young LLP. I belong to a middle-class family with limited
resources available and my father is an __________ who had worked hard for me and
my family, so that we can live a peaceful life and provided me an opportunity to pursue
Chartered Accountancy course. At a very initial stage of my career due to the
inadequacy of fund I am applying for this CFA access scholarship.
I have always been a very determined and focused candidate throughout my
education journey and always known as brightest and hardworking candidate in
academic curriculums. Since I have interest towards finance, I have kept on gaining
knowledge on finance world through all the open and free resources available on the
online platform.
I always interact with the local area businessman’s who need some sort of finance
advice in order to manage their fund for the business appropriately. I have created a
small social media group for posting an update on recent developments on finance
world and keeps encouraging the communities towards financial planning.
