Introduction/Background of the Study

1. Read the introduction part of the Research article. What is/are the issue/gap/problems which
prompted the researcher to conduct the study/research?

Answer: The issue that prompted the researcher to conduct the study is that Subanon epics are
worthy of inclusion in Philippine literature textbooks and teaching materials in the
classroom. She concludes that most found epic is only from Luzon among many Filipino
literary books.

2. In the introduction part, were the cited/reviewed literature enough to establish the background
of the study?

Answer: The cited/reviewed literature in this article are enough to establish the
introduction/background of the study because it tackles about two great Epic that should
included in Philippine Literature textbooks. the All of these cited literature were
anchored to the research statement presented by the researcher.

2.1 How many literatures were significantly reviewed and presented as evidence?( The
minimum number of citation is atleast 5)

Answer: There were 13 cited literatures that were significantly reviewed and
presented as evidence and become the framework or the basis of the researcher to conduct
his research study.Menez 1996, Miguel A. Bernard 1979, Encarta 1997-2000, Eugenio
2001, Dundes 1965, Dorson 1972, Malagar 1972, Silverman 1978, Tiongson 1994,Abad
1978, Kennedy and Gioia 1999, Tomeldan 1986, Scholer and Silverman 1978.

2.2 Were the literature cited relevant and updated to the present study? How? ( The acceptable
timeline of citations is 10 years back from the date of publication of the article)
Answer: The literatures that were cited are relevant because these become the basis of the
study. These are updated to the present study because all related literature that were
being cited are 10 years back from the date of publication of the article.

3. What evidences/citations were provided to present the theory/ies, or the general statement of
the research?

Answer: The study was guided by the theory of Eugenio. He said that “Philippine epic heroes
are strong and brave, of great fighting prowess, and possessed of restless, adventurous
spirit, great determination and endurance. They are endowed with supernatural or majic
powers, and possess magic objects and/or animals and even guardians or friendly spirits,
and sometimes a voice that advises them in the moments of need”(2002:xvii). Raglan
also pointed out notable aspects in the life of the hero of tradition. According to him, the
incidents fall definitely into three groups-- the hero’s birth, his accession to the throne,
and his death. These correspond to the three principal rites de passage-- that is to say, the
rites of birth, rites at initiation, and rites of death.

4. What is/are objetives of the research?

Answer: The objective of the research is to discover by the Phillippine Literature of the two
Epics that are great and must be included in the Philippine Literature books.

of the problem?

Answer:The objectives were properly presented. They were presented as statement of the
problem.

METHODOLOGY

5. What research design is used in the study? What are the indicators of the reasearch design
used?

Answer: The research design used in the study are descripted and correlative research design.

The indicators of the reasearch design used descripted research design because it
presents the descriptive statitics of the two Epics of Subanon the Ag Tobig Nog
Keboklagan and the Guman of Dumalinao.

6. What are the methods used to facilitate the research design? What are the indicators of
these methods?

Answer: The methods used to facilitate the research design is not presented.

6.1. What data is/are gathered to answer the researcher's statements of the problem?
Answer: There was no gathering of data since it is only a descriptive method.

6.2. What procedure is/are used to gather the data?

Answer: The procedure used to gather data shows the similarities and dissimilarity of the two
epics.

7. What sampling method, if any is used ? How many were treated as sample for this study?

Answer: The procedure is not presented.

8. What method of the analysis is/are used to treat /analyze the gathered data? What are the
indicators of these analysis?

Answer: Data was analyzed through the descriptive statistics of the two epics Ag Tobig Nog
Keboklagan and The Guman of Dumalinao.

9. What were the results for each statement of the problem/objectives raised in the study?

Answer: the epics Ag Tobig Nog Keboklagan and The Guman of Dumalinao portray the
characteristics of narrative poetry. For one, bothe have the poetic form of an epic. As
narratives, both exhibit the principles of the epic laws. Using the Law of Single
Strand, both narratives follow a linear unfolding of events. They do not begin with sudden
action and do not end abruptly. There were even rest points in between prior to the rising of the
action. These are uses of the Law of Opening and Closing.

10. Were the tables presented, if any, enough to summarize the results? How?

Answer: The two epics “Ag Tobig Nog Keboklagan and The Guman of Dumalinao” are
worthy of inclusion in Philippine Literature Textbooks: Yes, because the two epics with their
philisophical meanings and moral observations, the echo pthaos of the Subanon nation
and the Filipinos in general that they survived the vagaries of time is certainly a
significant contribution to Filipino cultural history in general. Both of this epics have the
potential to a classical masterpieces.

1. Which part or portion of the research needs improvement? How can it/they improved?

Answer: The research is organized as the researcher contrast the two great epics. There is no
need on improvements.

2. Would you try to consider replicating the study? If yes, which part would you replicate?
Answer: It is very unbelievable that we have our epic here near our town and the reseacher did a
great job for her work. I will not anymore replicate the study.
