Self – Compassion

I once was lost, in a sea of doubt,

With cruel thoughts, I’d scream and shout,

Berating myself, for every mistake,

With self criticism, my soul would ache.

But then I learned, to show some grace,

To myself, to my pace

To understand, that I am enough,

And that I deserve, love, care and compassion’s touch.

I started to listen, to my heart’s gentle call,

To treat myself, like I would for one who’s small,

With kindness, gentleness, and a warm embrace,

Forgiving myself, with a smile on my face.

I learned to take, the time to heal,

To feel my emotions, and know they’re real,

To recognize, my worth and my might,

And to treat myself, with dignity, both day and night.

Self-Compassion, is a gift to me,

A way to grow, to be free,

From the shackles of self-doubt and pain,

And to live life, with love, joy, and gain.
