Reading: The first pillar of the TK System: “Plan”

“In our To-Day List, we should identify the 3Ts, the three most important
tasks to carry out in the day.”

The pillar “Plan” of the TK System can be divided into three sub-pillars:

1. Define your objectives.

The first step to take before designing your own personal productivity system is to define
exactly what you want to get in life, at work… in short, medium and long-term.

You must clearly define your goals, write them down and integrate them in your system
so as to be able to check them constantly to avoid forgetting them and to help you make
decisions.

Include your objectives in your To-Do List to have them at hand. Include them in the
category “objectives”.

2. Weekly review.

Stop once a week to get an overview and distance yourself from the hustle and bustle of
every day life. Climb up to the top of the tree and remember where you are going and
decide which is the best route to get there.

Review your roles, goals, commitments and pending tasks.

Define your priorities for the week in particular, define the “next steps” that will help you,
week after week, to move towards your goals.

3. Use your To-Day List.

At the start of each day, before embarking on anything, define your priorities for the day.

Specify which tasks you will complete TODAY no matter what. Prepare your “To-Day List” and
keep it in sight all day long. Cross out each task as you go through them.

Include your 3Ts in your “To-Day List”, i.e. the three most important tasks that you need to
complete throughout the day.

Start the day by working on your T+, that is to say the most important task of the day. You
should do that before anything else.

When you have completed a task on your “To-Day List”, don’t forget to focus back on your
“To-Do List” and start working on the next task. Don’t give into your day-to-day matters.
Don’t forget that you have set yourself the priorities for the day. Be strict with your plan, with
yourself and with others.
