COURSE OBJECTIVES:
S.
DESCRIPTION
NO.
The general objectives of the course are to enable the students to
1 Understand the theoretical workings of the simplex method for linear
programming and perform iterations of it by hand.
2 Understand the relationship between a linear program and its dual, including
strong duality and complementary slackness.
3 Solve specialized linear programming problems like the transportation and
assignment problems.
4 Solve network models like the shortest path, minimum spanning tree, and
maximum flow problems.
5 Model formulation and applications that are used in solving business decision
problems

COURSE OUTCOMES (COs):

CO NO. DESCRIPTION
Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to
Solve the linear programming problems for minimizing the project
18MEMET7010.1 cost and maximizing its profit for real time problems occuring in
industries using various LPP Techniques.
Examine the best optimal solutions for job allocation, and the cost of
18MEMET7010.2 transportation of goods in industries using transportation and
assignment techniques.
Select the best optimal sequence and replacement of goods in an
18MEMET7010.3 organization for machining operations using various sequencing and
replacement techniques.
Decide the appropriate optimal order quantities required and waiting
18MEMET7010.4 times necessary for any goods and services in order to have the best
economical strategies using inventory and waiting time techniques.
Select the optimal strategies to be played and network strategies to be
18MEMET7010.5 implemented in an industry for better economic standards using
game theory and project management techniques.
