Article 25-A of the constitution of Pakistan provides free compulsory education for the

children age 5-16; however, this provision is far from implementation in the country.
Resultantly, twenty-two million children are out of school according to the government
estimates. Moreover, in the current fiscal year 2022-2, only around 1.5 percent has been
allocated for education in the budget. This shear lack of importance given to education is the root
cause of many socio-economic and even political problems of Pakistan.
In such an educational crisis, Teach For Pakistan is a beacon of hope to improve
education system in the country. Being an education activist, I have always seen the efforts of
Teach For Pakistan through the eyes of admiration. Having done with my graduation recently, I
want to join the fellowship so that I can contribute to the great cause of life changing initiative of
many students by Teach For Pakistan and bring a positive change in society. In addition, this
program will transform me in many aspects and help me a lot in my career.
The reasons I should be considered as a potential fellow are my academic career and
social and educational activism. I have a Bachelor degree in English with linguistics as major.
Therefore, I am well-learned regarding language teaching to children. Further, I also have
experience of teaching at primary level in a community based school in my village. Additionally,
I have attended many online courses regarding teaching, class management and taking classes
through digital means. Moreover, I have always been active in student societies at college and
university, through which I have organized many educational seminars and career counseling
events for students of different age. I am also the founder of a student club, The English Literary
and Linguistics Club, at the University of Peshawar. Therefore, I have an ample experience to
organize different co-curricular activities and to engage students in them.
From childhood I have desired a profession that would be engaging, difficult, and
thrilling. Teaching not only contains all the qualities of my dream job but it is also the profession
by which I can make a significant contribution to improve the quality of education in my
country. Teach For Pakistan is a ray of hope for me to achieve my dream career. It is great
opportunity to develop myself both at the personal and professional levels. This program will
provide me with the opportunity to learn teaching as a skill. Moreover, it will enhance my
leadership skills. At the end of the fellowship, I hope I will be fully experienced and well-
developed professional teacher and be able to contribute for the betterment of society.
