In the fall, there are stunning bursts of color. The stark beauty of bark against a winter sky that
is cloudy. In the spring, green leaf shoots appear apparently out of nowhere, signaling the
possibility of rebirth. Trees are not only beautiful to look at, but they are also necessary for life
to exist. Trees supply oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, provide a home for teeming
communities of wildlife, provide us with lumber for an unlimited variety of things, and are simply
amazing. Plants are necessary for all living things, huge and little, because they eat and live in
them.
