1. What are the components of the internal social system of the organization?
People make up the organization's internal social system. This internal
social system comprises of individuals and groups, which further may
be big, small, formal, informal, official or unofficial. Groups are dynamic.
They are formed, modified and disintegrate. The crucial idea is that people
are thinking, feeling and reacting beings who work to achieve their aims.
Organization comes into being to serve individuals, rather than the other
way around. The present organizations are substantially different from
organizations of yesterday. Organizations nowadays encourage and work
towards acquiring ethnically diversified personnel. Diverse work force
presents both benefits and difficulties to the organization. The
ramifications of diversity reside in the fact that people come from diverse
educational and cultural backgrounds. In addition to having distinctive
value systems, interests, and lifestyles, they differ from one another in
terms of their talents and viewpoints. As a result, businesses must both
take advantage of and be ready to respond to these distinctive qualities.
The workforce's thought and behavior habits have undergone a significant
change. Changes in management methods are necessary for firms to
survive.
In the meetings held monthly by the board of regents, Mr. Bundoc acted as the champion of the
students' cause. When the university president, Dr. H.C. Agao, proposed an increase in tuition,
Mr. Bundoc opposed it, even tried to personally convince the other members of the board to do
the same. The proposal was rejected by a majority vote.
Not accustomed to accepting defeat, Dr. Agao devised a way to make Mr. Bundoc submit to his
wishes. He befriended the wife of Mr. Bundoc and insinuated to her that she can do business
with the university through catering services. Mrs. Bundoc agreed and soon she became the
sole food caterer to most of the meetings and parties held at the university. The arrangement
proved to be a lucrative source of income for Mrs. Bundoc.
Every time that she had the opportunity, she told her husband
Soon, Mr. Bundoc's stand as opposition in the board softened. He became more
accommodating to the proposals presented by Dr. Agao
Question:
Is there anything wrong with the actions of the three personalities in this case? Elaborate your
answer.
Answer:
I guess yes. Three personas in this case are Dr. H.C. Agao, Mr. Francisco Bundoc and
his wife.
Mr. Bundoc should have stand for what he thinks is right. Even his wife shouldn't
be able to influence his decision. If he truly believes that what he is doing is
correct, he need to keep going and stand by himself. Let others decide.
Dr. H.C. Agao is somehow culpable in conflict of interest as he’s the university
president. In givingMrs. Bundoc, who owns a business on campus, is motivated
to manipulate and maybe influence the meeting's decision to be rejected.
Mrs. Bundoc made the incorrect choice. She should have rejected the offer
provided by Dr. Agao. I am aware that she has a chance, but not in this
circumstance.
