HOLIDAY IN THE

WORLD.
Bastille Day JULY 14TH.

DESCRIPTION
Commemoration of the day when French
citizens fed up with the oppression of the
French monarchy seized the Parisian
fortress, which marked the beginning of the
Revolution.

HISTORY
It is said in the tradition that the Bastille had been for years the
prison of many victims of the monarchical arbitrariness. There,
as in other places of confinement, those indicated by the king
with a simple letter of cachet were imprisoned without trial.6 It
was a medieval fortress of the walls of Carlos V that had been
destroyed in the 17th century, whose military use it was no
longer justified

The trigger: the dismissal of

Necker

News of Necker's dismissal reached Paris on the

afternoon of Sunday, July 12. Parisians generally
assumed that the dismissal marked the beginning
of a coup d'état by the more conservative
elements of the Court. The liberals feared that
the concentration of royal troops brought to
Versailles, coming from the border garrisons,
would try to shut down the National Constituent
Assembly (which was meeting in Versailles).
CONSEQUENCES
Low
98 dead
73 wounded

Military Parade
On July 14, a parade of troops is held along the Champs-Élysées
avenue in Paris, whose departure generally takes place at ten in
the morning, just after the passage of the Patrouille de France
and the review of the different armed forces. by the President of
France.
PERSONAL OPINION

It is important to know about history at the international level,

and although it is the commemoration of a certain "freedom" it
is still a violent act in which many people were involved.
However, it should be noted that those who fought become the
heroes until the end of time, since they are the ones who have
given us the freedom and well-being with which we live today
