saloon cars. Alongside this he started working with Dave Player, the team principal of Team
Brit, in 2013 and joined Kartforce as a mechanic before becoming the team manager. When
Team Brit first formed he supported them in his spare time from 2015.

suffering with injuries and pain caused by an undiagnosed problem

Chris joined Team Brit in August 2021 and started in a rookie development programme. In
2021 he drove in the Britcar Trophy for one race where he took home silverware. He returned
to racing in 2022, where he drove the BMW M240i in the Britcar Trophy where he was
partnered with James Whitley. The pair won the championship and made history by
becoming the first ever all-disabled team to win a national championship

Before his time in racing Chris had a very successful career as a photographer where he
worked with London Fashion Week and travelled the globe on commissions for global titles.
He eventually stopped his profession and became the technical instructor of photography and
Solent university.

James was born without fingers and has had over 30 operations to help improve the function
with his hands. When he was six, he was involved in a serious boat accident whilst with his
family on holiday in France which ended up with him having multiple broken bones, internal
bleeding, and multiple months in the hospital.

Since he was a child James had a passion for cars and anything to do with racing, He started
to look for opportunities to race himself and that's when he found Team Brit. He joined the
team in 2021 and he competed in the Brit Car Trophy Championship the year after where him
and his teammate Chris Overend won the championship.

Before his time in racing when he was younger, he contacted the GB Paralympian ski team
and went to a meeting with the development squad. By the age of 10 he was invited to join
the team and at age 13 he was promoted to the senior GB elite squad and started skiing in the

Topic Research
Team Brit, as it is now, was formed in 2015 and their driver line up consists of only disabled
drivers. The team are based at Dunsfold Aerodrome which is the home of the top gear test
track and also where the former studio was based. In 2023 the team are racing in multiple
British racing series including the British GT championship, The British Endurance
Championship, The Britcar Trophy and the Citroen C1 Series and their main goal for the
future is to race in the 24hr Hours Of Le Mans being the first do so with an all disabled driver
line up

The Vision, Mission and Values

The team’s vision for the future is to show what can be achieved through motorsport to
support, inspire and motivate people who are maybe facing physical and psychological
challenges and obstacles.

The team’s mission is to make motorsport more accessible for people with physical and
psychological disabilities by creating equal opportunities in motorsport, to allow disabled
drivers to compete on equal terms with able bodied drivers by coming up with technological
innovation. to make history and become the first all disabled team to race in the prestigious
24 hours of Le Mans, to support disabled racing drivers in returning to motorsport and
providing injured troops with gateway to be able to compete in competitive motorsport

The teams values include "United As A Team" They work together and overcome challenges.
"We Dare To Be Different" They challenge normal conventions and smash stereotypes.
"Excellence Through Inclusion" They celebrate difference's, succeeding through the power
of their diversity and setting the standard for everyone else to follow. "We Share Success"
they strive to help others by sharing knowledge, creating opportunities and learning. "We
Never Rest" We constantly strive to innovate and improve whilst not compromising on
quality
Team Brit equip their cars with the worlds most advanced hand control devices to allow
their disabled drivers to race alongside able-bodied people on equal terms. Team Brit
developed and created the technology with Slovenian motorsport experts or MME
Motorsport. The hand controls use a mix of pneumatic, electronic and hydraulic technology
which allow the drivers to use the steering, brakes, clutch, throttle and gears all through the
steering wheel. The wheel is also fully adaptable and has been inspected by Motorsport
UK's technical experts

Team Brit acquired another McLaren 570s GT4 in 2022 which is the same specification as
the other one that they use in the British GT Championship. This one however races in the
British Endurance championship

The car itself is a GT4 regulated car with the body of the car being made of carbon fibre, this
means that the whole car weighs in at about 1,400 kg. The car is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-
turbocharged McLaren V8 engine with a 7-speed transmission which emits about 560 brake
horsepower with a top speed of 205 mph. With the lightness of the car and the power of the
engine the car goes from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.

The car is driven by Chris Overend and James Whitley

Contingency Plan

I have many options for what I can do as a backup plan for my

production. For example, if none of the interviews come about then I
will just do voiceover over my b-roll and tell the story of the team and
the drivers that way.

If I can only secure an interview with Al but neither of the drivers,

then I will tell their stories over voiceover and ask Al the rest of the
questions that are relevant to the team and the production.

If I can get Al and at least one of the drivers then I can stay on the
same plan that I have now but it would just include one less
interviewee which would still work fine
