Start of Interviews
Open with some b-roll shots of inside the Teams HQ before going into Al
Locke’s questions:
Starting on camera 1 for his name and transitioning to camera 2 for his role.
Also, lower third graphic with his name will appear on screen.
Show B-roll of some racing shots and show some shots of the HQ and maybe
their truck also if he mentions anything about how the team started in this
question show archive footage of what the team used to look like
What is your story into motorsport and how did you join Team Brit?
Show B-roll of previous race teams he has worked for before he joined Team
BRIT and if he mentions kart force bring up archive footage of that.
Again, if he mentions kart force show some archive footage of it but if not
then just show old photos and videos of team brit when they started.
If he mentions, there old cars such as the polo then show that and if he
mentions how the team have evolved show archive footage of how they used

Introduction to Chris and James
When they introduce themselves bring up the name graphics for both and
when they mention the McLaren 570s show footage of the car on track
Focus on their interviews for to try and get a more emotional response from
the audience by making it feel more personal.
If they mention it, for Chris show archive footage of him being a
photographer in London and doing Wheelchair tennis,

If you can get a steering wheel out from one of the cars, then show the
paddles on the back as Al explains it and show the toggles on the front of
the wheel that change the gears.

Research on Interviewees
Name: Al Locke
Role: Engineering Director
Al Locke joined 2018 joined Team Brit fully in 2018 initially as a race engineer before
becoming the engineering director.
Before his time at Team Brit, he went to university and left with a degree in motorsport
technology. After this he worked comprehensively with karts as-well as single seater and
saloon cars. Alongside this he started working with Dave Player, the team principal of Team
Brit, in 2013 and joined Kartforce as a mechanic before becoming the team manager. When
Team Brit first formed he supported them in his spare time from 2015.
He then became the race engineer for Plans Motorsport in 2016 who shortly after took over
the running of the Team Brit cars. Then in 2018 he moved to Team Brit full time as a race
engineer before then becoming the engineering director
Name: Chris Overend
Age: 39
From: Southampton
Chris was born with development dysplasia of the hips and spent years since the age of 12
suffering with injuries and pain caused by an undiagnosed problem
Chris joined Team Brit in August 2021 and started in a rookie development programme. In
2021 he drove in the Britcar Trophy for one race where he took home silverware. He returned
to racing in 2022, where he drove the BMW M240i in the Britcar Trophy where he was
partnered with James Whitley. The pair won the championship and made history by
becoming the first ever all-disabled team to win a national championship
Before his time in racing Chris had a very successful career as a photographer where he
worked with London Fashion Week and travelled the globe on commissions for global titles.
He eventually stopped his profession and became the technical instructor of photography and
Solent university.
In 2023 he is going into GT4 racing, driving our McLaren 570S GT4 in the British
Endurance Championship alongside James Whitley
Name: James Whitley
Age: 25
From: Northern Ireland
James was born without fingers and has had over 30 operations to help improve the function
with his hands. When he was six, he was involved in a serious boat accident whilst with his
family on holiday in France which ended up with him having multiple broken bones, internal
bleeding, and multiple months in the hospital.
Since he was a child James had a passion for cars and anything to do with racing, He started
to look for opportunities to race himself and that's when he found Team Brit. He joined the
team in 2021 and he competed in the Brit Car Trophy Championship the year after where him
and his teammate Chris Overend won the championship.
Before his time in racing when he was younger, he contacted the GB Paralympian ski team
and went to a meeting with the development squad. By the age of 10 he was invited to join
the team and at age 13 he was promoted to the senior GB elite squad and started skiing in the
world cup events.
When he was 16, he was ranked number two in the world U18s and was chosen to represent
Team GB at the winter Paralympics in Sochi 2014, Pyeongchang in 2018 and Beijing in
2022. This is where he secured his best finish of 6th in the giant slalom.
In 2023 he will race in the British Endurance Championship in a McLaren 570s GT4
alongside Chris Overend
Topic Research
Team Brit, as it is now, was formed in 2015 and their driver line up consists of only disabled
drivers. The team are based at Dunsfold Aerodrome which is the home of the top gear test
track and also where the former studio was based. In 2023 the team are racing in multiple
British racing series including the British GT championship, The British Endurance
Championship, The Britcar Trophy and the Citroen C1 Series and their main goal for the
future is to race in the 24hr Hours Of Le Mans being the first do so with an all disabled driver
line up
The team’s vision for the future is to show what can be achieved through motorsport to
support, inspire and motivate people who are maybe facing physical and psychological
challenges and obstacles.
The team’s mission is to make motorsport more accessible for people with physical and
psychological disabilities by creating equal opportunities in motorsport, to allow disabled
drivers to compete on equal terms with able bodied drivers by coming up with technological
innovation. to make history and become the first all disabled team to race in the prestigious
24 hours of Le Mans, to support disabled racing drivers in returning to motorsport and
providing injured troops with gateway to be able to compete in competitive motorsport
The teams values include "United As A Team" They work together and overcome challenges.
"We Dare To Be Different" They challenge normal conventions and smash stereotypes.
"Excellence Through Inclusion" They celebrate difference's, succeeding through the power
of their diversity and setting the standard for everyone else to follow. "We Share Success"
they strive to help others by sharing knowledge, creating opportunities and learning. "We
Never Rest" We constantly strive to innovate and improve whilst not compromising on
quality
Team Brit equip their cars with the worlds most advanced hand control devices to allow
their disabled drivers to race alongside able-bodied people on equal terms. Team Brit
developed and created the technology with Slovenian motorsport experts or MME
Motorsport. The hand controls use a mix of pneumatic, electronic and hydraulic technology
which allow the drivers to use the steering, brakes, clutch, throttle and gears all through the
steering wheel. The wheel is also fully adaptable and has been inspected by Motorsport
UK's technical experts
Team Brit acquired another McLaren 570s GT4 in 2022 which is the same specification as
the other one that they use in the British GT Championship. This one however races in the
British Endurance championship
The car itself is a GT4 regulated car with the body of the car being made of carbon fibre, this
means that the whole car weighs in at about 1,400 kg. The car is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-
turbocharged McLaren V8 engine with a 7-speed transmission which emits about 560 brake
horsepower with a top speed of 205 mph. With the lightness of the car and the power of the
engine the car goes from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.
