Policy Overview Marriott International, Inc. (the "Company" considers safety and security to be an integral part of the responsibilities of all associates. Accidents or incidents which result in loss or injury to associates or guests, or damage to Company or other's property, are often preventable and costly to those involved. The Safety and Security Policy (MIP-08) sets forth the Company's expectations for the establishment, maintenance and ongoing compliance measurement of safely and security programs, standards and guidelines, globally. This Policy applies to all Company associates. 2. Policy Statement Itis the policy of the Company to minimize such losses through proactive measures, to include accident prevention programs and safety and security guidelines and standards, Its also the policy of the Company to fully comply with regulations, codes, and laws in all jurisdictions in which the Company operates. 3. Requirements 3.1. Operational Safety & Security 3.1.1. Operational Safety and Security Plan Each location will have an adequate operational safety and security plan to manage the loss exposures inherent in their business and location. The plan may begin with risk assessments conducted by Global Safety & Security, to determine the operational needs of the locations based upon duty of care and specific threats and vulnerabilities. 3.1.2. Threat Condition Program The Threat Condition Program is an intelligence led, threat-based security program designed to address strategic and operational security threats identified by a threat assessment of the local operating environment. The Threat Condition Program is a dynamic, tiered protocol that directs properties in higher-risk environments to implement security measures ‘commensurate to their surrounding risks. Properties must comply with the threat condition level assigned to them by the vice president, Global Safely & Security. hitps:imgscloud marriott. comstandards7id=1811 39 91622, 10.03 PM Safety and Securty (MIP-08) - Ml Standards A property may implement extra security precautions based on changes in the local environment such as terrorist threats or civil unrest. Such extra measures should be reported to the Global Safety & Security department. The vice president, Global Safety & Security is responsible for determining and establishing threat conditions on a global basis in collaboration with the continent presidents or their designee. Changes to threat condition levels are made by the Vice president, Global Safety & Security, in collaboration with the continent presidents or their designee, whenever a new threat or security concern emerges. The Global Safety & Security department regularly conducts random and predetermined audits of security at certain Marriott properties to ensure that appropriate policies are in place. These audits may also be conducted by an authorized third party vendor. 3.2, Emergency Response & Crisis Management Properties must develop plans to reasonably maintain the safety of our quests, associates, and visitors, and mitigate the Impact of adverse incidents to customers, associates, property owners, partners, and other stakeholders. Plans and activities must be in compliance with the Emergency / Crisis Management and Recovery Plan (1.2) (RSK-GSS-002), Engineering & Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning (MIP-30). 3.3. Operational Safety & Security Desi Designing environment-specific safety and security systems and products into a building allows the operator to meet its duty of care and address potential threats and vulnerabilities. Therefore, the design of Marriott-managed projects should generally follow Safety & Security Design Standards Chapter 16. Deviations from Chapter 16 must be reviewed and approved by the Global Safety & Security department. 3.4 Fire Protection & Life Safety All global properties, managed and franchised, participate in one or more of the following Fire Protection & Life Safety programs: + Conversion or New Build Plans Review/Site Visits/Acceptance Testing + Annual Inspections/Audits + Property Improvement Programs/Renovations/System Upgrades During the course of the above programs, Marriott Fire Protection & Life Safety reserves the right to request additional property related information that may impact fire protection and life safety engineering design, code compliance or audits 3.4.1. Fire Protection & Life Safety Design Designing fire protection and life safety systems and products into a building allows the operator to meet its duty of care. The design of Marriott properties should generally follow Marriott's Fire Protection & Life Safety Design Standards Chapter 14. Deviations from Chapter 14 must be reviewed and approved by the vice president, Fire Protection & Life Safety or the Fire Life Safety Committee for the respective continent. hitps:imgscloud marriott. comstandards7id=1811 49 91622, 10.03 PM Safety and Securty (MIP-08) - Ml Standards Compliance with Chapter 14 must be verified by Marriott Fire Protection & Life Safety Department before occupancy and acceptance of a building from a general contractor or owner and at completion of a renovation or replacement of life safety systems. Temporary, Conditional Acceptances may be approved by the vice president, Fire Protection & Life Safety, under certain circumstances, with designated deadlines and must be verified by Fire Protection & Life Safety at completion. Scheduled Testing of Systems Properties will conduct or arrange regular inspections, tests and maintenance for fire protection systems and life safety features as indicated in Engineering Standard: Life Safety System Testing and Maintenance (Fire / Sprinkler / Smoke) (1.1) (OPS-ENG-028) and system manufacturer guidelines. Applies to all properties, managed and franchised. 3.5. Department of Investigations Due to sensitive business and legal requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, FCRA, FCPA, Federal Sentencing Guidelines, etc,), Marriott's Department of Investigations will provide assistance where there is a need for corporate oversight. Some ‘examples of investigations that would benefit from this participation or oversight by the Department of Investigations include: + Significant unethical or criminal conduct presenting material risks to the Company + Threats to persons or property, and workplace violence + Malfeasance, fraud, and theft in which losses exceed $10,000 + Matters requiring coordination with law enforcement agencies + Individual or organization criminal records and relevant background data and in the performance of background checks in keeping with law, existing policy and operational needs relating to prospective hotel owners, business partners, vendors, consultants, and associates 3.6. Training All associates must complete the required safety and security training commensurate with their job responsibilities. The Global Safety & Security department will ensure the training content is updated timely and delivered as appropriate. 4. Roles & Responsibilities 4.1. Risk Management The senior vice president, Risk Management, has oversight responsibilty for ensuring the existence of effective safety and security programs within the Company, The vice presidents and directors of Global Safely & Security provide advice and counsel for the administration, direction and continuity of their continents’ safety and security programs, The vice presidents and directors of Global Safety & hitps:imgscloud marriott. comstandards7id=1811 59 91622, 10.03 PM Safely and Securty (MIP-08) - Ml Standards Security will assist the continent and business presidents with the development of policies, standards and procedures for exposures specific to their businesses. The vice presidents, Global Safety & Security are responsible for conducting threat assessments of the local operating environment and determining threat condition levels that apply to those locations, The vice president, Fire Protection & Life Safety, is responsible for the development of fire protection, fire prevention and life safety policies, procedures and standards. The vice president will act as liaison between the Company and local fire or code authorities and the insurers. The vice president of Global Safety & Security is responsible for the oversight of company investigations as requested by the Law Department, Claims, Human Resources, Internal Audit, the Legal and Ethical Steering Committee (at the corporate level), or the Legal and Ethical Compliance Council (at the continent level) 4.2, Continent and Business Presidents, Chief Operating Officers Each continent and business president and Chief Operating Officer is responsible for maintaining adequate safety and security programs within their businesses to minimize loss exposures and to comply with country and local laws, standards, guidelines and regulations. 4.3. Continent Lodging Services (CLS) Leaders & Area Vice Presidents CLS leaders and area vice presidents, regional and area directors, will be personally involved in their safety and security programs to ensure consistent and effective compliance. It will be a principal responsibility of the vice presidents and directors of Global Safety & Security to assist them in that endeavor. 4.4, All Associates All associates are responsible for compliance with relevant safety and security programs and directives applicable to them. 5. Policy Compliance Non-compliance with the requirements outlined in this policy could subject the Company to significant financial liabilities, and negative brand and reputation impact. Non-compliance with this policy is grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination. 6. Compliance Monitoring Compliance with this policy will be monitored by Global Safety & Security and Fire Protection & Life Safety using appropriate metrics and processes. Associates with specific roles and responsibilities outlined in this policy will periodically review those metrics and processes. 7.
