DX II Functions and Troubleshooting

OBJECTIVE

• To equip HMP dealers with the skills to diagnose,

troubleshoot and repair Hino units using DX II.


Background
What is DX II?
• HINO Diagnostic eXplorer (hereinafter referred to HINO-DX) can read failure
information from the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) of the system which has
generated abnormalities, to display the failure-diagnosis procedure about the
failure information, and to specify the failure part.

What is DX II?
• Hino DX II can not only read failure information, but also to read the recognition
value of the various sensors needed when the ECU controls the system, the
actuator control state and system construction from ECU.
• HINO-DX also makes it possible to change the setting of each system.
• HINO-DX can be used for units the are Euro 3 to Euro 5.

Diagnosis

• Click the Diagnosis Button


• Select the appropriate series of the vehicle
• Select Global
• Check appropriate ECU designation
• Click Read out button to diagnose the trouble.
• Wait for the display of DTC (past/present)
Diagnosis

• Upon diagnosing, DX II will indicate the trouble code (ex. P0117),


• Look for that indicated trouble code in the Workshop Manual (S5-YE13E01G)
• Workshop Manual will provide the step by step procedure on how to asses
the problem.
Customization

• Click the Customization Button


• Select 700 series and Global
• Check Engine box
• Click Read out button to customize the unit.
Customization

Dealers can use the DX II to set up speed limit and other


modifications for the unit if the customer request it.
Reprogramming

Step by step procedure on how to reprogram new ECU


Reprogramming

Step 1 Download the RPR file from Hino GSPS

Step 2 Select the vehicle specification (Trucks/Bus) and system classification (Engine)

Step 3 Select ECU classification (details of the new ECU will be shown)

Step 4 Select new ECU (Indicated with the “click” button)

Step 5 Select the ECU program (.RPR file) and load it.
Make sure that it is the correct program for the specific
engine.

Select ECU replacement in content of work and click “next”

Step 7 Select Write ECU


Reprogramming

Step 8 Follow the instruction that will be displayed on the monitor.


This will vary from turning off the ignition on of the unit, clicking
approval (ok), waiting for 10 secs then turning on the ignition on of
the unit again. This process may repeat depending on the unit model.

Step 9 ECU reprogramming is completed

1. Note: Reprogramming of new ECU will take approximately


30 minutes.
Simulation

Dealer can use Simulation button to practice on how to


use DX II. Diagnosis, Customization and Reprograming
links can be opened in the simulation button even without
the DST-i.
