1. Does the built environment reflect the people – their society
and inherent culture, values, belief and aspirations?

In current situation , The Pasig river reflects the people

and the society . the river is dead due to the neglect of the people
who live near there. it reflects on the people there on how they
live .
The PAREX will not reflect any culture, values and any
belief and aspirations . Its just a structure that will
it will only further perpetuate the people around that area. it will
also increase the poverty of the people instead of modernization.
If I were to design a plan , I will consider the people
will promote the culture in that area and history. just like
preserving the things that currently exist in the area, especially
those with historical and cultural values, so that the people who go
there will appreciate it
2.Do the planners provide only a partial solution to

The planner will provide a long term

solution for the whole community .The planners do
provide partial solution for now , but in the long
run, the project will cause more problems for the
people. like for example, the Pasig river will be more
polluted as well as the environment. The view will
be ruined where the tourism where the PAREX will
be built. But it also helps people who pass through
PAREX so that they are not disturbed by traffic to
their destination or work.
In my opinion , PAREX must no longer be built. we
should just focus on improving the community

Are there any applications of Eco-friendly
principles?

The Pasig river currently is under rehabilitation

but they are not sure if it will back to its natural form or
being alive. Unless the people activities will be stopped .
The Pasig River rehabilitation project is SMC's second
major river rehabilitation initiative. Its ongoing P1-billion
clean up of the 27-kilometer Tullahan-Tinajeros River,
launched last year, supports the rehabilitation of Manila
Bay.
If I will proposed the plan , we will put a lot of
trees and greeneries in the area to convert pollution. Also
it will help to the rehabilitation of the Pasig river..com
Will the law/regulation can be applied for all?

people living near Pasig river , there are people
who is undisciplined which they keep contributing
the pollution in the river especially in those slum
areas.

Is the City ordinance effective?

For today , we can see that the city
ordinance is effective because we can see that the
river today is free from trash and the community is
helping to clean the river

Having different gatherings or anything
entirely in one place helps the community, by,
recognizing the place as a good place to carry out

How would an event affect the urban design of the city?

Festivals and events are an important part in
building a sense of community and pride, generating
economic growth, highlighting natural and artificial assets,
and establishing a city's identity, both regionally and
nationally. When there are Festivals , of course many
people come to the place to participate in the event
where there will be a social gathering. need a place of a
public space where people can gather. the presence of a
festival or event gives life to the place. where public space
should be set which should be considered in urban
planning
When the PAREX is built, there is no sense in the
event being held because you only see roads, you can't
enjoy public space especially if there is nothing reserved
for people but only for cars. The design should focus on
the public space, not just series of roads because most of
them hold the festival which is also an element that
enlivens the city.

To what extent are these activities intended for? Short

The PAREX will be their solution for long term .

Their Groundbreaking happen in Sept. 24,2021 . The
construction will start in year 2022 their target completion
is in Year 2027.

that drivers are expected to spend at least an hour on the
road for a one-way trip. Some people spend up to three
hours stuck in traffic.

experienced rainy season . Sometimes tropical cyclones
occur , which it affects outdoors activities like construction
or sometimes there are flood . It delays the construction
activities
The Pasig river is prone to floods especially when
there is heavy rainfall, So there needs to be an architectural
solution here where urban planning elements will be
applied .

the community safety , we must provide walkable sidelanes
and for PWDs.

What are some of the possible ways to mitigate and control

traffic flow and focus on free movement as a whole?

In order to mitigate and control traffic flow , they

must promote mass transit vehicles like ferry boat , and focus
on designing bigger spaces for pedestrians. Because
sometimes the pedestrian causes the congestions or
sometimes road accidents.

Yes , there are lot of alternative proposal

made by some people for this project , they show their
creative ideas on how to make the river part of an
architecture , like for example we see the Palafox’s
future vision to the Pasig River , we might have it in
future, which they implement ferry systems , the
ecosystem of the river is alive . There are lot of
greeneries on the riverside.

First of all, do the elected officials fulfill their role as head of
the city?

Yes , we can see the state of the Pasig river today , it is

clean from garbage and other plants , The officials pushes the task
force to implement the Pasig River Rehabilitation , as for today we
can see the results.
Do the local officials have effective policies and programmes
which are formulated and implemented in a well coordinated
and synchronized manner ?
The President's call for the PRRC's abolition may have
been prompted by findings by the Commission on Audit that,
despite spending 96 percent of its budget in 2018, or P107.6 million
out of the P111 million allotted for the clearing of six waterways,
the commission only achieved a one percent to 27.65 percent
success rate.The PRRC was honored by the International River
Foundation in 2018 for effectively reviving the Pasig River. From
1999 to 2017, PRRC removed about 22 million kilos of solid garbage
from the river and relocated over 18,000 families living beside
rivers, according to the IRC.

The destination can be reach by any land vehicles ,

like public and private cars , even jeepneys , van , buses ,and
kalesa . Also the place is walkable , it is enjoyable because
you can appreciate different surrounding views while
walking.

The existing sidewalks width is 2 meters approx.

for the pedestrians in the river side. According to urban
planner and architect Paulo Alcazaren.,He calculated the widths
of the parts of the river where PAREX will travel using Google
Earth and reached to the conclusion that they are just 60-100
meters wide. According to his calculations, the river easement
from the riverfront park to the next side is 95.81 feet.
The sidewalk for pedestrian is not good for them
because it can also cause congestions.

They are included in the priorities in the to-do plan.
many facilities will be placed where they can be comfortable and
they will feel that they belong in the area. there will also be some
facilities such as chairs, ramps, playground, and their own area
for them to relax and exercise.

What form of transportation can you reach the destination?

Anyone can reach the destination using land
transportation. private cars , public jeeps , bus , vans , or even
motorcycle . Ferry can also be used as transportation to the
destination.

Who are the individuals needed execute the plan/s? Do
they Have the qualifications ?

In order to execute the plan , we need the Architects

and Urban planners to Provide plans for the area, solve some
problems and make it helpful to the environment and sustainable.
Also we need engineer to make sure the structures are strong and
safe . Then the investors who will supply and gives budget to the
project . Then the Government who will approve this project .
Another is the construction workers who will build physically the
structure . Also we do need environmentalist for consultation , if
the structure will harm the surrounding environment.

We are rich in manpower and different
machineries for building and others

There are lot of areas in the city that is

abandoned or neglected , as a designer , we must
make it useful , we must convert it to a green
public space that can help the environment and
people . So in the future , we will make it as a
legacy for the future generation.
