NITI AAYOG

 NITI Aayog Also known as National Institute of


transforming India was formed on 1st Jan, 2015 as the
replacement of old planning commission.

 NITI comprises three important components, Mainly;


1) Chairperson, Prime Minister i.e. Shri Narendra
Modiji.
2) Vice Chairperson, Rajiv kumar (Indian Economist).
Appointed by P.M.
3) CEO IAS Amitabh Kant i.e. one who does the actual
implementation of policy.

Note:-Other Members including- Ex-officio members, Full


time Members and ADHOC Membership.
OBJECTIVES:-
 To foster co-operative fedarlism.
 To develop mechanisms to formulate credible plans at grass root level.
 Spread out the advantages in the entire society.
 To encourage relationship b/w National-International think tank and
research institution.
 To maintain state of the art resource center.

FEATURES:-
 It has bottom up approach.
 Both state and central come together in development of nation
 No financial sanctioning authority.
 Act as think tank to the government.
 Includes Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Ex-officio
members, full time members
 All CMs of States and UT, Lt. Governor of all UT
Except Daman & Diu and Dadar & Nagar Haveli,
Lakshadweep and Chandigarh.
 Adminsitrators of Daman & Diu and Dadar & Nagar
Haveli, Lakshadweep and Chandigarh will be special
invites.
 Special invites of NITI Aayog will be Special invites of
Governing Council.
 “Make in India” campaign to foster
manufacturing in India.
 Seaweed Cultivation.
 Hydrogen Cell as a source of fuel for vehicle.
 National research foundation, to fund & promote
research.
 Developing techniques for desalination of water.
NITI Aayog is all about partnership b/w state
and central rather than one flow I.e. Union
to state which was there in the decade old
planning commission. It focuses on more on
regional problems which is very important
for a developing nation like India.
