Question :

1.What are the three interpretations of Parisian Life that is presented in Xiao Time?

The three interpretations of Parisian Life that is presented in Xiao Time is literal,
that was the first interpretation and as we can see in the painting the literal meaning is how the
woman caught the attention of the three Filipino patroits. They are clearly talking about the
woman in the painting, the men in the painting are Juan Luna, Jose Rizal and Ariston Lim. It's
clearly empasize on how they look at the woman with interest and this is the moment of
happiness and contentment of the three gentlemen. The second interpretation is prostitution,
because Juan Luna used to know as a painter of a women. He was paying some prostitutes to
become a model in his paintings and compared to ordinary educated ladies they ask just a
cheap talent fee. For the last interpretation based on UP Fine Arts , the woman in the painting
represent Philippines. Her mirror image represent as Philippines archipelago, the way she sit
and even the small size of her waist, her arm represent as Palawan. The black turtleneck which
people believed to be a rope pulling the woman up. It's symbolized the lack of freedom of the
country
