 Foreign policy- The decisions a country makes in regards to other countries. Its doesn’t have to
turn into laws but can turn into laws.
 What factors impact foreign policy?
-National interest: What’s important to a country.
-Geographical location: Resources in your country, how prone it is to natural disasters.
-Ideology: Certain ideas about everything.
-History: Events in the past (treaties, wars, colonization) that changes the way certain countries
trade with other countries.
-Society and Culture: Languages, Religion, Race (to an extent).
-Physical Size
-Infrastructure: Helps with Trade through roads, ports and railways. If infra. is badly kept its hard
to Trade goods.
-Political System: Far more difficult to trade with countries with different (or inefficient) political
systems (governments - leadership).
 Goals of Foreign policy: To form better relations with other countries. To improve the country’s
trading and economy. National security.
