Challenge

A very massive new working area acquisition over the past ten years makes PHE becomes one of the
leading National Oil Companies (NOCs) that dealing with enormous gigantic complex data. Current
condition for operating and joint assets, PHE has approximately 507 Terabyte of geospatial data
(5,400 wells, 10,200 2D Lines/130,000 km total length and 85 3D Survey/20.000 km2 total area).
Growth and heterogeneity type of Geospatial data are highly increased as a response to the new
data and asset acquisition every year. Each PHE subsidiary has a different standard data
management system and scattered storage data, therefore it leads disruptions during accessing and
integrating it to one and another. In order to support PHE vision to become a world-class energy
company, a high business mobility and faster analysis decision process are inevitable and have to be
supported by flexible and fast data access.

Objective

To answer the challenge that the company faced, Exploration Department collaborated with IT
Department proposed a system that could integrate the business process data from exploration to
development-production based on ArcGIS Technology, named XD World. XD World is a web-based
platform that gathers all of the PHE assets and presented with geospatial information that can be
accessed through any platform equipped with web PERTAMINA HULU ENERGI browser including
mobile devices and personal computers. Surface and subsurface information of PHE assets and their
supporting documents could be interactively accessed in a single platform and to accelerate the
technical assessment and screening. XD World presents three main services that cover the core of an
upstream business company. The three products include Management Activity Reports (operation
activities, key performance indicator dashboards and project surveillance), Geology Geophysics
Reservoir Asset Maps, and Analytical Production Reports on a daily basis. There are 3 objectives of
XD World: 1. Give easy access to get information related PHE Asset. 2. Maximize asset value and
speed up decision process. 3. Tool for surveillance exploration activity and business process.
Esri Technology used for implementing and deploying your application or solution (Miftahus)
PHE XDWorld is built on ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced technology deployed from Portal for ArcGIS,
ArcGIS GIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store and ArcGIS Web Adapter (IIS). The interface of XDWorld
are use ArcGIS App in the from of Operational Dashboard and WebApp Builder. The interface also
be customized using the Arcgis Site module to make more interactive and compact. To aims to
enable the usage of relational database management systems for spatial data, we use ArcSDE
connected to arcgis Desktop/Pro. This usage allows the data used by XDWorld retrieved from
database such as Oracle and SQL Server. Currently, PHE XDWorld has also been developed to
receive data streams using ArcGIS Geo-event Server and use realtime data collection app lika a
Survey 123 and Collector For ArcGIS, including to processing of bussiness data using ArcGIS
Insight.

PHE XDWorld is based on Esri's ArcGIS technology platform where the following ArcGIS software are

Initiative Websites templates’ within the ArcGIS Hub, provided various tools and products that were
incorporated into the Hub. The tools, incl. story maps, survey123 web forms, operation dashboards,
web maps, and open data capabilities, enriched the user experience with data searches, download
options in different formats, to share with technical and target audiences.
ArcGIS Pro Data conversion tools has allowed the conversion of tabular data into maps that resulted
in publishing data on the ArcGIS Enterprise portal 10.6.1 before sharing on the ArcGIS Organization
and including on the hub

Business complexity, mature assets and scattered data are the challenges to sustain oil and gas

are the keys to maintain oil and gas production in a safe and reliable working area.
