CIVIC EDUCATION

Good morning to the principal, vice principals, teachers and my dear friends. I am (NAME) from Class
(class name), would like to talk on the theme of our weekly civic speech “RESPONSIBILITY”. From
responsibility, I would like to focus on a specific part that is “time management”.

TIME, can be defined as a duration or relation of events expressed in terms of past, present,
and future, and measured in units such as minutes, hours, days, months, or years. Every moment we are
alive, we are using time.

Students like ourselves struggle with time as we are often overwhelmed with various activities
such as school, tuition, sports activity, house chorus, our need to socialize with our peers and sleep within
a 24-hour period. Yet somehow certain friends of ours are able to squeeze in more from that time than
others. The secret here is time management—how you choose to plan, prioritize, and spend the hours
you have. Now I would like to talk about 2(two) simple ways to get you started on your quest to manage
time.

The first way you can manage time is MAKE A TIMETABLE. It may sound like a cliché but a
timetable will help you arrange all your activities in a day, week or a month. This helps to let you keep
track on what you need to do and what time you have. A well-managed time not only improve your
efficiency in organizing your life, you can avoid wastage of your precious time by decluttering your task or
responsibility.

The second way is, STOP PROCRASTINATING. Procastinating means putting off things to do later.
How many times had we said “I will do it later” because you are just too lazy to put your phone down. I
know many of us will tell ourself “I can do it when I am free later” but in the end we never have the time
to do it. When we leave too many things undone and it piles up, we will soon find there’s too much to do
and not enough time to do it. When this happens, we will feel stressed and unhappy because of your own
fault. So, stop procrastinating, if you can do it now, DO IT NOW.

Friends, the time we waste can never come back. So be RESPONSIBLE for your own time by
managing time wisely. Before I end, I would like to sum up that time is not something you can pause and
stop as you like. So, manage it by making a timetable and do what you are suppose to do today. With
that, I end my speech. Thank you.
