n Training Overview

• (Period) August 2 - October 8, 2021 (approx. 10 weeks)


• (Location) At home or office at the convenience of the trainee
(online courses due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
• (Main Target) UNFCCC Non-Annex I countries (developing countries)
• (Application) June 7 – June 30, 2021
• (Qualification) Government officials, consultants and researchers who are working for
national GHG inventory preparation, national MRV, and/or climate
change related area (one person per country, approx. 36 participants
in total)
- Junior level positions preferred. Participants should have sufficient English proficiency to
understand the lecture.
*Need to submit a certified English test score (An online interview in English will be conducted via Zoom)
- Intermediate level of IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word) is also required.

• (Curriculum) Introduction to Cross-Cutting Issues (pre-requisite), Energy, Industrial
Processes and Other Product Use, Agriculture, Forestry and Other
Land Uses, and Waste
- In accordance with the IPCC Guidelines Course Package from GHGMI*

• (Opportunity) To offer greater opportunities to our trainees, this year’s


top-performing individuals will be invited to Korea in the following
year to participate in the Programme if it would be possible to hold
in-person events.

n History

Ÿ The Programme has established a cooperative international network with 112 trainees from
70 countries since 2017.
Ÿ The UNFCCC Secretariat expressed its intention to cooperate with and support the above
training program (October 2016) and signed an MOU with the GIR (March 2017). The GIR
and Secretariat have been organizing the Programme in partnership since then.
