What is Horses for Heroes National program begun by the Ride On Center for Kids, ROCK, in Georgetown, Texas, in 2005. Partnership with ROCK and First Horse Cavalry Detachment from Ft. Hood to assist soldiers from Brooke Army Medical Center returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers helping soldiers Veteran volunteers are recruited to support their fellow soldiers. Veterans provide moral and physical support to their wounded comrades honoring the military philosophy of no soldier left behind. All veteran volunteers will receive training in program goals, horse handling, side walking and safety.

REACH Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit corporation that provides therapeutic riding and hippotherapy. Therapeutic riding is the use of the horse and equine-oriented activities to achieve a variety of therapeutic goals, including cognitive, physical, emotional, social, educational and behavioral improvements. Hippotherapy is a treatment strategy used by certified and licensed therapists that utilizes equine movement as part of an integrated intervention program to achieve positive functional outcomes.
