The Geographical location of Saudi Arabia

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, and located in the
southwest corner of Asia, the kingdom is at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. Saudi Arabia
covers a vast area, 8 percent of the Asian continent it has a unique biodiversity and natural
environment.
Its land area of about 1,969,000 square kilometers makes it the tenth largest country in the
world. Saudi Arabia’s geography is diverse, with forests, grasslands, mountain ranges and deserts. The
climate varies from region to region. Temperatures can reach over 110 degrees Fahrenheit in the desert
in the summer, while in the winter temperatures in the north and central parts of the country can drop
below freezing. Saudi Arabia gets very little rain, only about four inches a year on average and there
are no permanent rivers or lakes.
Capital City
Riyadh is the capital and largest city of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located in Al-Riyadh
Province in the Najd region. It is situated in the
center of the Arabian Peninsula. The
name Riyadh is derived from the Arabic word
meaning a place of gardens and trees ("Rawdah").
And also known as heartland of the Arabian
Peninsula. Riyadh city is the seat of government;
ministries, embassies, diplomatic missions, as well
as it contains educational, financial, agricultural,
cultural, technical, commercial and social
organizations. The Provinces of Saudi Arabia, also
known as the Regions of Saudi Arabia. Saudi
Arabia is divided into 13 regions. The regions are
further divided into 118 governorates.

There are three climatic zones in the kingdom:

(1) desert almost everywhere,

(2) steppe along the western highlands, forming a strip less than 100 miles (160 km) and

(3) a small area of humid and mild temperature conditions, with long summers, in the highlands just
north of Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and the surrounding countries

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is bounded by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea in the west and the
Arabian Gulf in the east. Border countries are Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, United Arab
Emirates, and Yemen. Saudi Arabia shares maritime boundaries with Bahrain, Egypt, Eritrea, Iran,
and Sudan

East Arabian Gulf, Bahrain, Qatar and United Arab Emirates

South Yemen and Oman

West The Red Sea

Thus, we have the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was called the Arabian Peninsula.
