The tragedy of Aboriginal Community

By Garance Gendry

10th April 2020

The tragic story of aboriginal people begin in the 18th century by the
colonisation of her land by Europeans and particularly British peoples. This
colonisation exploded with the gold rush in 1850’s. But it had a very negative
impact in the Aboriginal people, who were here up to 150 000 years ago,
because, when they’re coming, europeans called the land as inhabited and
not considered at all Aborigines. Australian Aborigines was nomade and they
had an importante culture and traditions with particular ceremony, cloths and
beliefs. It was a civilisation very close to their land. So, it was a big tragedy
for them when European coming to take that from them and segregate them
in the Bush. But the steal of them land wasn’t the end at all, another calamity
happened to those people, we call it « generation stolen ». A lot of
aboriginals child’s was stolen from their Mothers after what they was ill-
treated and obviously, they lived without their culture. All of that was chested
by the government. Government want Aboriginal culture to disappeared.
Now, culture and history of Australians Aboriginals is very unknown and
endangered.

Ignorance of their culture cause of those people a lot of discrimination

and racisme, we associate them of an image of primitive people who live in
wilderness with a tribal lifestyle but, all of that is definitely false, they are
juste « normal » individuals who juste have a rich culture with a lot of
traditions. This discrimination can have horrible issues: Indigenous youth
suicide in northern Australian communities is now proved to be the highest in
the world.

The other problem is that, their story are no recognize and Australia is not
recognize as Aboriginal land, who make in fearless and there is actually more
than half of Aboriginals who live on the outskirts of cities in absolutely terrible
conditions.

We have to stop this acharnement with this communities, we have to

valorise, spread and safe their culture! Australian government should
recognize their story and give their land back. We have to all know and tell
their story.

Now, it’s time to give them back all what we take to them and find and
happy end to this tragic story!
