Additional requirements, not included in
the 500 word proposal:

Project action plan and timetable:

This section provides you with an opportunity

to outline your planning and organisation
over a period of weeks and the activities you
will need to carry out in order to successfully
complete your project in the agreed time
frame. The more time and thought you give to
planning your project, the more successful it is
likely to be.

It is important that you consider how you will

balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project. You should also
include what you are going to do, how you
will do it and by when. Remember to include:
time spent sourcing materials and other
resources to conduct research, feedback from
tutors and peers, and when you will carry out
independent study.

Bibliography (Harvard Format):

This section provides an opportunity to record

the initial research sources, both primary and
secondary, that you intend to use.

Your sources of research should be as wide

as possible and could include libraries,
galleries, books, magazines, films, computer
games, websites, blogs, social media, radio
programmes, archive material etc. Where
appropriate, you should use the Harvard
system of referencing. The bibliography
should be continuously updated as the
project progresses.

Project Title
Final Major Project

Section 1: Rationale
(approx. 150 words) For this project we have been asked to solve a problem prevalent in the world
with our final projects and create a successful outcome based on an idea. I feel
very confident for this project and I have a very clear idea of what I want to
accomplish during the time I have been given, I have thought about using my
idea for this project before we were given this task so I have been able to put
extra thought into my idea.
This project will require all of the skills I have learned during my time in college
including creating illustrations typography and much more using Photoshop
and illustrator as well as adobe InDesign for the last pieces of my project when
it comes to assembling the final project.
This project allows me quite a few new learning opportunities as well, we are
rarely given as much freedom with a project as we are with our FMP so I plan
to go all out when designing, I also have not had a chance to design a
magazine before yet so I will experience all of the techniques and processes.

Section 2: Project
Concept My idea for this project is to create an interactive Eco-friendly JDM car
(approx. 200 words) magazine, this is in order to combat the rapid decline of sales in both car and
car magazines due to the new digital age and sustainability issues. My target
audience for this project is either young driver who want to get into car culture
or the older generation of car enthusiasts who want to experience the same
sense of nostalgia they had when they were growing up with the same type of
magazines. I have already started researching various car magazines that are
now discontinued or still being published, big names such as option magazine
had great success back in the 90's and still have a loyal fan base due to their
efforts. I want to take as much inspiration from these magazines as possible. I
want to create at least 8-12 pages of content with each having a series of
articles which discuss todays options in the JDM market and how young
drivers could get involved with the culture, I also want to create an illustration
for the cover to draw in my readers. For this project I will need to use adobe
software such as Photoshop and Illustrator to create different pieces of work
and InDesign to put it all together and create the final product at the end.

Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 150 words) For this project I am going to do weekly reflection and goals in order to keep
track of what I am accomplishing along the way and maintain a good level of
efficiency. I also plan on carrying out focus groups when possible to gain
feedback about my work and see from another perspective what can be
improved and changed in order to get the best result.
I am also going to annotate my work and document my thought process to
show the progression of my work and how I plan to develop it further. I want to
be able to look back and reflect on what I planned to do and how it is going
further on in the project.

Proposed Research
Sources and For this project I plan to research multiple topics to ensure I can produce my
Bibliography (Harvard project to a professional level, first I want to study one of Option magazines
Format)
cover and pages if they are available for viewing, this will give me inspiration
for my own designs as well as a template for what a professionally printed
magazine should look like. Next I want to find an example of a contents page
used in a published magazine such as vogue who have been known for their
designs, this will also give me useful examples and inspiration. For this project
I also need to research into an Eco friendly printing company for the possibility
of printing at the end of the project. Another essential research topic is my
competitor brands, if I decided to print my magazine I would need to analyze
the market competition as well such as Option if they were still publishing.
