Tradition

Our Procession of Silence

characterizes us.
The Procession of Silence of San Luis Potosí
is an annual event that commemorates the
passion and death of Christ and Our Lady of
Solitude. It happens on the night of Good
Friday, starting at the Temple of Nuestra
Señora del Carmen, where it originates, and
the tour continues through the streets of the
historic center of San Luis Potosí. During the
event there are the sounds of drums and
bugles, but no participant or spectator
speaks, meriting their name. It is one of the
most important Holy Week celebrations in
Mexico and was declared part of the cultural
heritage of the state of San Luis Potosí in
2013.
