Steps for replacing the jaws in a 3 jaw chuck
Question:

I am replacing the jaws on the three jawed chuck. How do I keep them at an equal distance from each
other?
Answer:

There are three jaws that go into three slots on the 3-jaw chuck. The jaws are numbered and stamped: 1, 2 & 3. Follow these steps:

1. Put the T-wrench, 221-590-2, into socket on side of chuck. Turn it clockwise. If you look into one of the

slots, you will notice the screw rotating inside the chuck as you turn the wrench. Turn the wrench until
the leading edge of the screw is visible at the edge of the slot.
2. Put jaw #1 into this slot. Orient it as shown in the accessories brochure. Push it into the slot until it
stops.
3. Turn the T-wrench clockwise until the leading edge of the screw is now visible at the next slot.
4. Put jaw #2 into this slot. Orient it just like #1 and push it into the slot until it stops.
5. Turn the T-wrench clockwise until the leading edge of the screw is now at the next slot.
6. Put jaw #3 into this slot. Orient it just like #1 and push it into the slot until it stops.
Continue turning wrench clockwise and all three jaws will be drawn into the center of the chuck. If any are not drawn in, they
haven't been picked up by the screw. Turn the wrench the other direction to back the scroll up and try again.
