Case study of Accurate Transformers - Determine the optimal production
scheducle.

Let x1 be transformer produce in regular times

Let x2 be transformer produce in additional times
We have to minimize the schedule time so our objective functions will be
We minimize the transformer produce in regular time and additional times to
optime the production schedule.
Min Z = x1 + x2
Constraints
Janaury to June we have constraint that is cost of transformer produced in
regular time, cost of transformer produced in additional time and right hand side
is the total number of the order in the specific months.
180*x1 + 200*x2 >= 58
170*x1 + 190*x2 >= 36
170*x1 + 190*x2 >= 34
185*x1 + 210*x2 >= 69
190*x1 + 220*x2 >= 72
190*x1 + 220*x2 >= 43
We can produce transformer in regular time is 50 per month.
x1 <= 50
We can produce transformer in additional time is 20 per month.
x2 <= 20
We have carry forward inventory of 15 units.
x1 +x2 <= 15
We have to produce transformer in the form that in end of 6 month we only left
with 5 unit of transformer.
x1 – x2 <= 5

From the graph we can say the we have feasible solution for the problem.

Points Coordinates Objective Function

x1, x2 Value
x1+x2
A (3/40, 21/80) 27/80
B (0,23/70) 23/70
C (36/95,0) 36/95
D (10,5) 15
E (0,15) 15
F (5,0) 5

We have found all points which can be possible in this linear programming
problem. And form a graph based on the points and found that Point B is our
optimal solution as it is a minimization problem we get Z as 23/70 which is
equal to 0.328571.

From the Model overview we get the optimal objective value of Z = 0.3285714
To minimize the number of transformers produced should be same as before but
as the value of x1 = 0 while the x2 can be reduce to by 0.3285714 for additional
time in producing transformer.
