Today, during this unprecedented time of COVID-19 pandemic, people in

our country and around the globe are facing enormous challengeswhich
must be addressed and overcome in the spirit of faith, unity,
solidarity, and joint efforts.

In the last couple of months, Syunik-Development NGO and the Diocese of

the Vayots Dzor region have mobilized their resources to help mitigate
the social consequences of COVID-19 and support people in need. We have
implemented a number of emergency initiatives in the region and remain
committed to the continuous development of our local communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a test for of our humanity. It is a test of our values and
perspectives. This pandemic is a challenge for education, culture and economy. It is a
test fo international and cross-national relations. If we want to be successful in
fighting this pandemic and its effects, we have to be united and care for each other.

Fortunately, in recent months we have seen numerous words of encouragement, heartfelt

messages and willingness to help each other from different parts of the word which is an
indication of unity and care – key promises for reaching our common goal of fighting
COVID-19 successfully.

I pray to God for the health and safety of you and your loved ones. May God give us
strength and guidance as we navigate through this difficult situation and continue our
efforts in accomplishing our mission.

Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan

Primate of the Vayots Dzor Diocese
