1. Introduction
College students often use their personal style to express themselves and
showcase their unique individuality. However, when it comes to choosing outfits for
class, there can be various factors that affect the decision and viewpoint. These can
include comfort, new in trend, professional dress requirements, financial constraints,
and personal preferences. Understanding these factors can give insight into the
diverse backgrounds and experiences of the student population.
The topic of "Preferable Fashion to Class for UiTM Segamat's Students" for a
project can be an interesting topic for a few reasons. Firstly, as a college student,
their fashion choices can be an important form of self-expression and can often
reflect students’ individual personality and interests. Other than that, UiTM as a
higher education institution may have specific dress codes, which can also impact
their fashion choices. Understanding this rule and how students respond to them can
provide insights into the student experience and the lifestyle of the institution.

2. Objectives of Study
From the online questionnaire survey that we have already delegated to the student
of UiTM Segamat, the following are the project objectives:
 To scrutinize the significance of fashion amongst UiTM Segamat student
 To perceive the frequency of outfit purchases and price ranges spent for outfit buying
amongst UiTM Segamat student.
 To ascertain whether they prefer offline, in-person purchasing, thrifting or online buying
for the outfits.

6
3. Scope of Study
Population
A population is a group of people, related objects or occurrences that are important for a
certain experiment or issue. A statistical population can be a collection of real things or a
hypothetical, possibly limitless collection of objects derived from experience. In this survey
that we held, our population is solely for the student of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM)
Segamat branch.

Sample
Sample is a subset of population of interest. The sample is 22 students from
Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Segamat.

Where the study was conducted

The study involved students from the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Segamat branch and
was done through online platform which is using a Google Form that titled “Preferable
Fashion to Class for UiTM Segamat's Students”.

Limitation
i) Respondent may lie out of social desirability
A questionnaire is a type of statistical tool used to gather information from respondents by
asking them a range of questions. Yet another way to think of questionnaires is as a sort of
written interview. They can be conducted in-person, over the phone, online, or by mail.
Also, researcher would not have to be present while the questionnaires were carried out, it
does offer a relatively inexpensive, rapid, and efficient approach to collect a lot of information
from a big sample of people. When interviews would be unfeasible, this is useful for huge
populations. The main concerns are respondents may lie out of social desirability. Most
people try to portray a favourable image of themselves; thus, they may lie or distort the truth
to appear better.
When compared to conventional techniques, questionnaires can be a convenient technique
to gauge the attitudes, preferences, views, and intentions of a sizable number of individuals
promptly and economically.
Open and closed questions are frequently used in questionnaires to gather information. This
is significant since it makes it possible to acquire both quantitative and qualitative data.

ii) Respondents may not feel encouraged to provide accurate, honest answers
Due to apathy or disinterest, respondents may not be completely aware of the reasons
behind any given response. Compared to other question categories, surveys containing
closed-ended questions could have a lower validity rate. Data inaccuracies resulting from
non-answers to questions may exist. Prejudice and bias may be introduced into survey
results if different respondents choose to reply to a question vs those who choose not to.

7
4. Methodology

Convenience Sampling
Sampling technique is a method for selecting a sample from a population, in
order to collect data about the population. The goal of sampling is to obtain
information that is representative of the population, while using resources efficiently.
Out of all techniques we use Convenience Sampling technique.
Convenience sampling is a type of non-probability sampling method in which
participants are selected based on their availability. This means that participants are
chosen because they happen to be in the right place at the right time, or because
they volunteer to participate. This sampling method is often used in situations where
researchers have limited time or resources to conduct a study, as it is relatively quick
and easy to implement. However, convenience sampling can lead to a number of
problems, such as bias and lack of representativeness in the sample.
Google Forms is a way to gather data by creating and sharing a survey or
questionnaire through the online platform. This method allows researchers to reach a
large number of participants easily and quickly. Participants can complete the survey
at their own convenience through website link.

8
Data Collection Method
The process of collecting and analyzing accurate data from many sources to find
answers to research problems. We use the questionnaire method or more accurately
g form questionnaire. There are several guidelines need to be followed such as:
 Using short questions
 Using simple language and easy to understand
 Ask one issues per questions
 Use clear term
 Avoid personal and sensitive questions
 Avoid calculation questions

6. Conclusion
In this fast-paced world, there will be several people you will meet where their first
impressions of you are all they’ll have to remember you by. Circumstances like interviews
and networking are where this can matter a whole lot. When you dress in a way that makes
you appear that you are on top of your game, chances are you will not be left behind is
cipher.
Dressing well and staying well-groomed conveys more than just power, authority,
and confidence. It shows that you have self-respect. The way you decide to present yourself
to the world is how they'll take you. It keeps productivity flowing when you stay in
comfortable clothing. To rid of the lethargic feeling, you must dress as if there are people you
must talk with. Assume that there is an opportunity already waiting for you on the other side
of the door. How would you want to be perceived? Are you confident enough to take the task
head-on? When you’re in clothes that are comfortable and stylish, you would most likely be
motivated to give it you’re all. It leaves a great impression.
With the survey in the form of online questionnaire that we have conducted, we can
conclude that the significance of fashion amongst UiTM Segamat student with how many
pieces they brought to university, the frequency of outfit purchases and price ranges spent
for outfit buying amongst UiTM Segamat student. To add we also have a better
understanding on whether they prefer offline, in-person purchasing, thrifting or online buying
for the outfits and what colour palette they often going to. All in all, we had absolute blast
and fun conducting this survey and have better understanding on student’s desire of outfit
choosing.
