PITUNG

Pitung is a pious young man from Rawa Belong. He diligently studied the Koran in Haji Naipin.
Finished learning the Koran he was trained in martial arts. After years of religious knowledge and the
ability to master the martial increased.

At that time the Dutch were colonized Indonesia. Pitung pitied the plight experienced by young

2. Sangkuriang

Once upon a time, there was a man named Sangkuriang. He lived in the jungle with his mother,
Dayang Sumbi, and a dog named “Si Tumang”. Sangkuriang was a very good hunter. His mother
always asked him to go hunting, but he never got anything.

One day, Sangkuriang killed a dog and took its heart. When his mother found out, she was so angry
that she kicked him out of the house.

A few years later, Sangkuriang met Dayang Sumbi and he accidentally fell in love with his own
mother. Dayang Sumbi know that he was her son. She refused his proposal by setting a condition.
She asked him to build a dam and a boat in the Citarum river before sunrise

Sangkuriang tried his best, but he failed. He got so angry that he kicked the boat and it turned into a
mountain called Tangkuban Perahu.
3.The story of Lutung Kasarung tells the tale of a princess named Purbasari who was born with a
beautiful singing voice. She was exiled by her stepmother, and she wandered into a forest where she
met a monkey named Lutung Kasarung. They became friends, and Lutung Kasarung helped Purbasari
overcome her loneliness.

One day, Purbasari met a prince who fell in love with her singing voice. They soon became lovers, but
Purbasari's stepmother found out about their relationship and tried to kill her. Lutung Kasarung
helped Purbasari escape, but in the process, he was killed by the stepmother.

Purbasari eventually became queen and had a statue made in honor of Lutung Kasarung. The statue
was imbued with magical powers, and it became a symbol of protection and prosperity for the
people of the kingdom.

The significance of this story in Indonesian culture lies in its representation of the power of
friendship, loyalty, and love. It also highlights the importance of standing up to injustice and
oppression. The story has been passed down through generations in Sundanese culture, and it
continues to be a beloved part of Indonesian folklore.

LEGENDA

1. The Origin of the Name of the City of Dumai


In the Dumai area stood a kingdom named Seri Bunga
Tanjung which was ruled by a queen named Cik Sima. This
queen has seven daughters who are beautiful and beautiful,
known as the Seven Princesses. Of the seven daughters, the
youngest daughter is the most beautiful, her name is Mayang
Sari.

One day, the seven daughters were bathing in the bottom of


Sarang Umai. Unbeknownst to them, there were several pairs
of eyes watching them, namely Prince Empang Kuala and his
bodyguards. The prince was fascinated by the beauty of
Princess Mayang Sari and he fell in love with the princess. In
fact, Prince Empang Kuala often muttered under his breath,
"A beautiful girl at the bottom of Umai.. beautiful at Umai.
Yes, yes... dumai... dumai." It is from this event that the name
of the city of Dumai is said to have originated.

A few days later, the prince sent messengers to propose to the


princess. Queen Cik Sima welcomed this proposal. However,
based on royal custom, it is the eldest daughter who is entitled
to receive the proposal first.

2. Robin Hood and The Golden Arrow

Once upon a time, in Sherwood Forest, there lived a legendary hero named Robin Hood. He was an
outlaw, a skilled archer, and the leader of a band of merry men, including Little John, Friar Tuck, Will
Scarlet, and Alan-a-Dale. They fought against the injustice of the cruel Sheriff of Nottingham and the
greedy nobles, stealing from the rich to give to the poor.

One day, the Sheriff of Nottingham decided to hold an archery contest in the town, with a golden
arrow as the prize. He hoped to lure Robin Hood out of hiding and capture him. Robin Hood, hearing
of the contest, decided to participate, knowing that it was a trap but confident in his skills as an
archer.

On the day of the contest, Robin Hood disguised himself as an old man and entered the competition.
Archers from near and far gathered to test their skills, but none could match Robin's marksmanship.
In the final round, with the target set at an incredible distance, Robin Hood drew his bow and fired a
perfect shot, hitting the bullseye.

The crowd cheered, and the Sheriff of Nottingham, realizing that only Robin Hood could have made
such a shot, ordered his men to arrest the old man. However, Robin Hood revealed his true identity,
and with the help of his Merry Men who had infiltrated the crowd, they fought off the Sheriff's
guards and escaped.

Robin Hood took the golden arrow and returned to Sherwood Forest, where he and his Merry Men
continued their fight for justice and the protection of the poor. The legend of Robin Hood and his
heroic deeds spread far and wide, inspiring hope and courage in the hearts of the common people.
