INT. LORNAS BEDROOM – DAY – EARLY MORNING

A MUSIC BOX BEGINS TO PLAY.

A picture frame is seen. Inside has a picture of two girls -

LORNA and SKYLAR.

LORNA

Skylar, let’s be best friends forever! Deal?

SKYLAR

(GIGGLES) Deal!

LORNA & SKYLAR

(CLAPPING/SINGING) Say, say oh playmate,

Come out and play with me,
And bring your dollies three,
Climb up my apple tree.

Slide down my rain barrel,

Into my cellar door,
And we'll be jolly friends,
Forever more - more – more…
(GIGGLING)(FADE OUT)

VOICE

Get out of the way!

(CAR SCREECH – FADES OUT TO SILENCE)

LORNA is asleep in her bed.

ALARM GOES OFF 08:00

She tosses and turns. LORNA is reluctant to wake up. She turns off
the alarm and draws the curtains open.

LORNAS MUM

Lorna, are you up?

LORNA

(NOT PAYING ATTENTION)

 Yeah…

Still half asleep, she smiles.

A doll that resembles SKYLAR is seen sitting on the window sill.

LORNA walks out the room and into the bathroom where she gets ready
for school.

SOUND: TOILET FLUSH/WATER RUNNING/GARGLING

LORNA enters the bedroom. She is dressed in her school uniform.

LORNA puts on her backpack. She grabs the SKYLAR DOLL from the
window sill.

LORNA (happily) begins to brush the dolls hair and fix her outfit.

LORNAS MUM

Lorna come down, breakfast is getting cold!

LORNA puts the SKYLAR DOLL (SD) in her backpack and exits the room.

FADE OUT

INT. LORNAS BEDROOM – DAY – AFTERNOON

CLOCK 15:33

LORNA enters the room with a sad expression.

She tosses her backpack onto the floor (SD FALLS OUT).

LORNA throws herself onto the bed with her face buried in her arms.
Her face looks glum. She closes her eyes.

SOUND: OVERLAPPING MUFFLED VOICES>CHILDREN/ADULTS

VOICE 1

(CHILDS VOICE) She’s so weird (WHISPERING)

VOICE 2

(CHILDS VOICE) Why is she like that? Is there something wrong with
her?

VOICE 3

(TEACHER)(QUEITLY) I’m a bit concerned; LORNA doesn’t interact well

with the other pupils… ever since the accident she hasn’t been
herself…
 VOICE 4

(CHILDS VOICE) That girl is crazy (WHISPERING)

VOICE 5

(CHILDS VOICE) Should we ask her to play with us?

VOICE 6

(TEACHER) She eats by herself

VOICE 7

(CHILDS VOICE) There’s nothing wrong with her, she’s just shy

VOICE 8

(CHILDS VOICE) She carries that doll everywhere (WHISPERING)

VOICE 8

(TEACHER) I’ll talk to her parents, first thing tomorrow

Her eyes open. She eventually pulls herself up. She sighs and looks
at the doll (SD is facing her). Her face lights up.

LORNA

(HOLDING SD’S HANDS)(QUIETLY) Let’s go play

LORNA (WITH SD) exits the room.

INT. LORNAS HOUSE – CORRIDOOR

LORNA (WITH SD) runs down the stairs. She sits SD on one of the
steps.

LORNA

Mum! Can I go play outside?

LORNAS MUM

Okay but put on a coat its cold outside

LORNA

(HAPPILY) Okay
LORNA puts on her coat and her shoes.

She grabs SD from the steps and exits the scene.

EXT. GARDEN – DAY – AFTERNOON

LORNA opens the door and enters the garden.

(LORNA AND SD PLAYING MONTAGE)

SOUND [THROUGHOUT}: LIVELY & UPLIFTING PIANO PLAYING

>> LORNA runs happily, spinning round and round with SD in her
hands.

They fall onto the grass. LORNA points out the clouds to SD.

[LOTS OF SMILING AND GIGGLING]

>> LORNA and SD play hand clapping games.

(CLAPPING/SINGING) Say, say oh playmate,

Come out and play with me,
And bring your dollies three,
Climb up my apple tree.

Slide down my rain barrel,

>> LORNA and SD play house and tea party.

PLAYING WITH CUPS AND TEAPOTS.

LORNAS MUM is looking at her through the kitchen window holding a

cup of tea. She watches her closely as LORNA is interacting with the
doll.

LORNA

Mum! I'm going to the park!

LORNAS MUM

(SMILES) Okay but be careful

LORNA grabs her bike and puts SD in the basket. She goes past the
window smiling and waving to her mum.

LORNAS MUM waves back with a concerned look.

EXT. PAVEMENT – DAY – AFTERNOON

LORNA is smiling as she and SD are riding together to the park.

EXT. PARK – DAY – AFTERNOON

SCENERY: SUNSET

LORNA and SD are playing on monkey bars. (SD watching her)

LORNA LAUGHS

LORNA and SD are playing on the swings.

(INDICATING THAT THEY HAVE BEEN THERE THE WHOLE AFTERNOON)

THE SUN STARTS TO SET.

FADE OUT.

INT. LORNAS BEDROOM – DAY – AFTERNOON

The picture of LORNA and SKYLAR is seen.

LORNAS MUM

LORNA I spoke to the teacher, she says she's worried about you

LORNA

No Mum I'm fine, just leave me alone

LORNAS MUM

(CONCERNED) (SHE SIGHS) Okay, I trust you, if there's anything wrong

you know you can come and talk to me about it

LORNA

I'm fine, I promise

LORNA enters the room.

LORNA is wearing her school uniform and backpack.

She sits on her bed, and thinks.

She opens her backpack and takes out SD.

She smiles.

LORNA

Mum! I'm going to the park

EXT. PARK – DAY – AFTERNOON

LORNA and SD are playing on the swings again.

A girl comes up to LORNA

 GIRL

Hi, I see you around school. Do you want to play with us?

The girl takes out her hand.

LORNA smiles and runs with her to where she was playing. LORNA stops
half way and looks at SD.

GIRL

Are you coming?

LORNA pauses looks at the girl and smiles.

LORNA

Yeah

LORNA plays with the girl.

LORNA is smiling.

SD looks at LORNA smiling and how happy she is. SD's expression
changes into a smile.

Ends with SD sitting on the swing until the sunsets.

FADE OUT.

END.
