Last May 21 and 22 we conduct a online interview on ten (10) MSAT students about their break

time hobbies or interests inside school premises. The conduct interviewed result were thoroughly

analyzed and then translated into English by the conductors.

The purpose of this interview was to gather information about how students typically spend their

free time at school and whether they engage in self-directed learning or collaborative activities in

the absence of a teacher. Additionally, the interview aimed to identify any specific hobbies,

interests, and online resources that students utilize during break time.

The research interview consisted of five open-ended questions related to the students' free time

activities and learning preferences. The interview was conducted individually with each

participant to ensure honest and detailed responses. The responses were recorded and analyzed

for common themes and patterns.

Findings:

Free Time Activities:

Most of the students that were interviewed reported engaging in a variety of activities during

their free time at school. The common activities mentioned were:

 Socializing with friends

 Playing games (board and online)

 Watching videos

 Using smart phones

 Studying for the next period

 Reading

 Sleeping

 Completing homework’s

 Writing some notes

 Reading

Hobbies and Interests:

A number of interviewed students mentioned having specific hobbies or interests that they

pursue during their free time. The reported hobbies and interests included:

 Drawing, and sketching


 Singing and listening to a music

 Reading books or writing notes

 Playing checkers

Self-Directed Learning:

Several students expressed a proactive approach to learning during periods without teacher

supervision. The self-directed learning activities mentioned were:

 Exploring subjects of personal interest online

 Watching educational videos or tutorials

 Reading books on various topics

 Debating on a current issues

Collaboration with Peers:

All students that being interviewed reported that they collaborates with their peers for group

activities or discussions when there were no teachers present.

Online Resources:

Many students mentioned using online resources for both learning and entertainment purposes

during break time. The commonly mentioned online resources were:

 Dep Ed tambayan website

 Wattpad

 Google

 Google Scholar

 Tiktok and YouTube

 Khan Academy

 Twitter, z library, accessible physical books

Overall, the research interview revealed that students engage in a diverse range of activities

during their free time at school. While some prioritize socializing and leisure activities, others

actively pursue hobbies, engage in self-directed learning, and collaborate with peers. Online

resources play a significant role in both educational and recreational aspects of students' break

time activities. The findings presented in this report are based on the responses of the

interviewed participants and may not represent the entire population.
