This manual and all information contained herein are the property of Uniline
Safety Systems. This information has been provided to installer companies in
order to ensure that correct installation techniques are utilised. This
information is for the reference of employees of the installer company and for
assisting the installer in gaining approvals for the Uniline System with their
customers.
It is in both the installers and Uniline’s interests that systems meet all of the
client’s requirements and that installations are carried out in a professional
manner. Full traceability of the installation and its components should be
maintained to facilitate the notification of the client prior to the yearly
inspection date and to assist Uniline Safety Systems as and when required.
After an installation the client should be trained and certificated in the use of
the Uniline system. A certificate should be issued stating the date of
installation, the location of the installation, the name of the installation
company, the name of the installer and the inspection date. The Uniline warning
sign must be placed near the access point to the system in a highly visible
location.

Additional Information The following parts can be fitted to URTF026 for use as an Intermediate Anchor;
Design Details
1) The anchor bracket is designed to be secured to the seam of a secret fix bulb type standing seam roof
using two part Aluminium clamps
2) Parts URTF021 is an end/corner anchorage for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 System options.
The anchor is totally universal and can be installed anywhere on the roof system
3) Parts URTF021-VB is a variable corner anchorage for use with Uni-8 System options. The anchor is totally
universal and can be installed anywhere on the roof system.
4) Parts URTF022/23 are intermediate anchorages for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 System
options. The anchor is totally universal and can be installed anywhere on the roof system. Never substitute
end/corner anchors with intermediates
5) The maximum distance between anchors when using Uniline Synthetic cable is 16m. When using Uni-8, it
is 12m. Calculations are still required for minimum clearance and maximum dynamic end loads to ensure
system safety
6) In any system of 12m or less, at least one intermediate bracket should be used to reduce the transfer of
load to the end anchors during use. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment.
7) The maximum arrest load is always less than 10kN and the maximum uplift force per square metre is 1kN.
This information must be communicated to the roofing contractor before installation to verify suitability of
the roof structure and ensure safety. Intermediate anchors apply a load of only 0.4kN/sq.m
8) The uplift force of 1kN/sq.m represents the worst case scenario and exact calculations can be performed
for roof systems where this force is too high
Installation Details
9) Over tensioning of the system may result in accidental deployment of the end and corner anchor.
10) The anchor is designed to collapse in the event that a dynamic load is applied to it and adsorb the energy
generated as the result of a fall through the deformation of an internal energy absorber, thereby preventing
damage to the roof system. Please inform Uniline of the direction in which the anchors will be installed in
order that the energy absorbers can be correctly positioned for maximum energy absorption
11) Due to the natural movement required in the roof sheet for seasonal variations, it is important that the
Aluminium clamps are not fitted over the halters which the roof sheet is fixed to
12) Aluminium clamps are fixed to the roof sheet (fig A) using two grub screws for an end/corner anchor and
one for an intermediate. The grub screws are size 3/16” and are made of stainless steel. The required
torque setting for these fixings is 13 – 17 Nm
13) Each Aluminium clamp is fixed to the roof sheet (fig A) using two grub screws (3/16” stainless steel) the
required torque setting for these fixing is 13 – 17 Nm. Intermediate anchors utilise smaller clamps with
only one grub screw, which require the same torque setting.
14) For ease of fitting, we recommend seating the anchor on to the roof seams with the clamps loosely
secured to the base plate (remove the infill piece of the clamp). Then mark the position of the clamps on
the roof with a pen, remove the anchor and fix the clamps in position. Then fix the anchor on top of the
secured clamps. Avoid applying load to the pan of the roof, as this will pull in the seams and make
installation difficult. Use of a board to take the installers weight will help.
15) The base plate is fixed to the clamps using 3/8” stainless steel bolts and spring washers (supplied). The
use of Loctite is recommended. Torque setting 15Nm.
Please ensure that all components are fitted in accordance with our technical instructions and are
correctly tightened and torqued.

Force Management Anchor Fixing Detail – FAC 10-4 & FAC 10-8 Fasteners
11) After installation remove all swarf from the roof and roof anchor to prevent
corrosion
12) Under no circumstances should fasteners be replaced or substituted for any
other type.
13) Force Management Anchors reduce the maximum arrest loads generated by a
falling person or persons to below what is considered to be a safe limit for a
minimum 0.42mm thick steel and 0.7mm aluminium roof sheet. As many
different system connotations are possible and maximum arrest loads may vary
as a result, Uniline insist that ALL systems are calculated for safety using
Uniline for Windows Software.
14) As Uniline Synthetic Systems require higher pre-tension loads than wire
systems, current recommended span lengths for systems installed on Metal
Pitched roofs are 16m maximum. It is advised that end anchors and corners are
installed as near as possible to purlins in order to reduce any possibility of
flexing in the roof sheet.
15) Over tensioning of the system may result in accidental deployment of the end
and corner anchor.
16) In any system of 12m or less, at least one intermediate bracket should be used
to reduce the transfer of load to the end anchors during use. Failure to do so
may result in accidental deployment.

Design Details
1) This variant of the Force Management Anchor is designed to be secured to the side
of the crown of a Stramit Speeddeck (or similar) secret fix roof system, of built up on
site variety. Brackets can be adapted to fit a variety of pitch frequencies although
most commonly they are 254mm.
2) The installer should inform Uniline Safety Systems of the roof system detail when
placing their order for the anchors, to ensure that the correct anchors are supplied.
Uniline will not accept responsibility for the supply of incorrect anchors if we have not
been provided with the correct information.
3) The Force Management Anchor can be used to support Uniline and Uni-8 cable fall
protection systems and additionally may be used as a Single Point Anchor, in
conjunction with a full body harness and energy absorbing lanyard.
4) Force Management Anchors can be located anywhere on a roof structure, providing
that the roof has sufficient strength and structural resistance for the load that would
be applied in the event of a fall on the system.
5) The Force Management End and Corner Anchors are designed to resist pre-tension
loads and in the event of a fall, deploy, reducing any overturning moment on the roof
structure and ensuring that the roof panel remains intact. The integral energy
absorber reduces end forces to below 10kN, which in turn distributes a force of
1kN/sq.m or less to the roof system. Intermediate anchors are subject to lower forces
of approximately 4kN, which in turn distributes a force of 0.4kN/sq.m or less to the
roof system.
6) Force Management Anchors reduce the maximum arrest loads generated by a falling
person or persons to below what is considered to be a safe limit for a minimum
0.42mm thick steel and 0.7mm aluminium roof sheet. As many different system
connotations are possible and maximum arrest loads may vary as a result, Uniline
insist that ALL systems are calculated for safety using Uniline for Windows Software.
7) As Uniline Synthetic Systems require higher pre-tension loads than wire systems,
current recommended span lengths for systems installed on Metal Pitched roofs are
16m maximum. It is advised that end anchors and corners are installed as near as
possible to purlins in order to reduce any possibility of flexing in the roof sheet.
8) In any system of 12m or less, at least one intermediate bracket should be used to
reduce the transfer of load to the end anchors during use. Failure to do so may result
in accidental deployment.
Installation Details
9) The brackets are secured to the roof using a series of aluminium bulb type rivets (5.2mm x 19.1mm)
manufactured from aluminium. Each fastener has a self sealing EPDM washer beneath the head. Beneath
each bearer is a strip of butyl tape, which ensures a watertight seal is achieved when the anchor is fitted.
10) Due to the natural movement required in a secret fix roof system for seasonal variation in temperature, it is
important that you should never fix the bearers over or in to a halter clip (the clip used to hold the roof
sheet to the under construction). Communication with the roofing contractor will ensure correct placement.
11) When positioning Force Management Anchors the installers should ensure that the energy absorbing
element is facing in the direction that the load is likely to be applied in the event of a fall. The instructions
for changing direction of the energy absorbing element are on pages 3 to 5 of this data sheet.
12) To fit the bracket to the roof, it is recommended that the bearers are located first. Measure the distance
from the roof edge or other pre-determined point to the centre of the anchor and mark the roof with a pen.
Then measure 210mm each side of centre for the end and corner anchors and 143mm for the
intermediate anchors and again mark the roof. (This will be the position of the end of the bearers). Then
remove the protective tape from the butyl tape and stick the bearers, including the butyl tape to the roof
taking care to ensure they line up with the marks you have made. Press them firmly to ensure they have
located correctly. Next place the anchor on to the bearers to ensure all the holes line up before you fix
them permanently in place.
13) You can now begin to drill your holes. Use a 5.4mm bit to drill through the bearer and butyl tape and in to
the roof. It is our recommendation that you secure the two outside rivets on each bearer before drilling the
rest to ensure the bearer does not move when drilling the remainder of the holes.
14) Then proceed to drill the rest of the holes. Insert your rivets and using the appropriate rivet gun (automatic
will save lots of time) secure the rivets and then check to ensure the stem has broken correctly and the
rivet has sealed.
15) When the bearers are secured, fit the Force Management Anchor to the bearers using the fasteners
supplied. The M8 nuts and bolts should have a torque setting of 15Nm.
16) After installation remove all swarf from the roof and roof anchor to prevent corrosion.
17) Under no circumstances should fasteners be replaced or substituted for any other type.
18) Over tensioning of the system may result in accidental deployment of the end and corner anchor.

Single Point Anchor UE0200A
1. This guide enables you to select the correct anchor for the sub structure/metal decking to
which you intend to install the uniline force management anchors and to instruct your
installation teams how to locate the correct fixing positions for the same.
2. When reviewing your technical drawing ( e.g. Data Sheet Number 0954, 0955, 0956), you
will notice that the range of Force Management Anchors uses only three sizes of the base
plate. For ends and corners, 330mm x 400mm, 466mm x 330mm and for intermediates,
330mm x 220mm. The fixing points are recessed to comply with the requirements of the
single ply membrane manufacturers and have been calculated to provide the appropriate
load distribution for the roofs sub-structure and must never be altered.
3. A wide range of metal decks are available to building designers and as such it would be
difficult for uniline to hold stock of the base plates that permitted you to fix to the crown
centre of each type. Fortunately, as you will see from the example shown on page 3 metal
decks have reasonably wide crowns and this has enabled Uniline to produce just three base
plates that will fit a wide range of metal decks. As we use standard tooling to produce the
plates, metal decks that fall outside the range of the standard base plates can be
accommodated, providing we are given technical drawings of the metal deck and
reasonable notice of your requirements.
4. The enclosed data table shows the most common metal decks used in the construction of
single ply membrane/ bituminous roofs and provides you with an easy method for the
selection of the appropriate Force Management Anchor. Further more it allows you to advise
your installer how to determine the position at which they should drill their fixing hole as
described on Data Sheet 0864 Pages 4 to 8. When drilling the pilot hole, if you know the
insulation depth before you begin your project, you will know when you have hit the crown
by using a depth gauge with your drill.)
5. As well as metal decks, these anchors can also be installed on plywood roof constructions
providing they meet the minimum uplift load requirements for the Force Management
System.
6. Anchors can also be fitted to concrete roof structures for fixing detail see Technical
Datasheet 0965.
When determining how to locate your fixing position and therefore hit the top of a crown, the
best solution is to ask the roofing contractor for some assistance or to drill a pilot hole from
beneth the roof. If this is not possible, then you can locate the centre of the crown by looking
for the line of fixings that have been used to secure the insulation to the metal deck or drilling
a small pilot hole from above. If you know the insulation depth, you will know if you have
located the crown or the trough.
Whichever method you use, it is important that you fix to the crown of the roof decking. You
should not fix in to the trough unless it has been agreed by Uniline in advance.
Once you have determined where the crown centre is, the next step is to decide from the chart
( see page 3) the distance to left or right of centre that should drill your holes. Then place the
base plate down and mark the fixing positions for the four holes on the roof. ( If you have hit
the crown with the first two holes, you should automatically hit the next crown, providing that
you have selected the correct base plate.) This process will become easier with experience
and installers may wish to practice the installation of the anchors in a controlled environment
before working on site.

Design Details
1. The anchor bracket is designed to be secured to the top of a new existing PVC membrane roof,
where the sub structure has been verified safe as a structural anchorage in accordance with the
distributed load information supplied by Uniline.
2. Parts URSP041/41A are end/corner anchors for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 System
options.
3. Parts URSP043/44 are variable corner anchors for use with the Uni-8 System. URSP043/44 have
M12 fixings for securing part number U10404-VB.
4. Parts URSP042 is an intermediate anchor for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 system
options. Never substitute end/corner anchors with intermediates.
5. The anchors are designed to work with a certain range of metal decking systems and can also be
used with plywood and concrete decks. The anchors are totally universal and can be installed
anywhere on the roof system. (Please see enclosed decking chart on page 3 for suitability and
layout.)
6. The maximum distance between anchors when using Uniline Synthetic cable is 16m. When using
Uni-8, it is 12m. Calculations are still required for minimum clearance and maximum dynamic end
loads to ensure system safety.
7. Over tensioning the system may result in accidental deployment of the end and corner anchor.
8. In any system of 12m of less, at least one intermediate bracket should be used to reduce the
transfer of load to the end anchors during use. Failure to do so may result in accidental
deployment.
9. In the event that a dynamic load is applied to the anchor it is designed to collapse and absorb the
energy generated as the result of a fall through the stretching of an internal energy absorber,
thereby preventing damage to the roof system. Please inform Uniline of the direction in which the
anchors will be installed in order that the energy absorbers can be correctly positioned for
maximum uplift force.
10. The maximum arrest load is always less than 10kN and the maximum uplift force per square meter
on insulation up to 150mm thick is 2.5 kN/Sq m . Please check with uniline and communicate this
information to the roofing contractor or structural engineer before installation to verify suitability of
the roof structure and ensure safety. The distributed load reduces if insulation is less.
11. Where insulation depths in excess of 150mm are experienced and a fall hazard exists the installer
must contact uniline for detailed loading information and installation suitability. This is because in
the event of a fall the load distributed to the toggle clamps will be higher the greater the depth of
the insulation.
Installation Details
1. Each anchor is fitted to the roof decking using 4 Toggle Clamps, which are supplied with
a solid spacer to prevent compression of the roof sheet when tightening and a guide to
prevent the toggles becoming stuck in soft insulation or tipping during installation.
2. Drill a 24mm diameter hole through the crown of the roof deck or plywood, to allow the
toggle clamp to pass through.
3. Next, you must drill a 27mm diameter hole through the roof membrane and insulation.
( NOT THROUGH THE DECKING).
4. At the top of the roof, the hole needs to be enlarged by 8mm depth and 65mm diameter
to accommodate the recessed fixing point.
5. The spacers and guides are supplied in 150mm lengths and should be cut to fit insulation
depth on site. (A good pair of copper or plastic pipe cutters of a suitable size can be used
or alternatively a hot knife.) Where the insulation is greater than 150mm a second spacer
should be used, back to back with the first. Detailed fitting instructions are enclosed.
(Save spacer off cuts for this purpose).
6. In order to fit the anchor, each of the toggle clamps must be inserted into the guides at
the same time. ( You may find it easier to insert the toggles in to the guides prior to
placing the guides in to the holes in the roof membrane and insulation). The anchor can
then be lowered in to place, where you can gently push the toggles through the guides. If
you do not use the guides, you will find installation harder and may get the toggles stuck
in the insulation.
7. When the anchor is seated, push the fixings down fully and tap the head of each fixing
with a plastic mallet. Then pull the fixing up sharply to ensure that the toggle clamp drops
into position and you feel the toggle clamp is bearing against the underside of the roof
structure.
8. The height of the bolt above the anchor plate should equal the free length of the bolt
before locating. If it does not, then the fixing is not in the correct position. Repeat the
procedure until the toggle has correctly located.
9. Finally pull up each fastener so it is bearing against the underside of the roof structure, (
keep your fingers or a pair of pliers underneath the washer to begin with) and tighten up
each fastener, taking care to turn it in a clockwise direction. The fasteners are tightened
sufficiently when you feel resistance and the base plate is very slightly embedded in the
roof membrane. Do not over tighten, as this will cause excessive compression on the
membrane and possible damage. Uniline recommends using a battery drill with a size 13
(M8) socket fitted. Finally torque the fixing to 15Nm.
In order to ensure competence, it is essential that ALL personnel receive proper training by an
approved person. before attempting installation of these anchors.

Add sealing detail.
1. Each Anchor base plate has been specially treated and coated with a PVC solution which
allows the PVC membrane of the roof system to be hot air welded to the base plate for
sealing purposes. An approved roofing contractor for the PVC membrane manufacturer
must carry out this process. A single piece of PVC membrane, which must overlap the
base plate as shown in the relevant diagram, should be placed over the anchor plate and
hot air welded in place using a suitable hot air gun and roller. It should in turn have the
outside edges welded to the main roof. (The overlap onto the main roof should be
determined by the roofing contractor and be in accordance with the manufacturers
instructions).
2. Each anchor is provided with a PVC seal which covers the cylindrical casing. It can be
removed whilst the roofing contractor seals the membrane to the base plate as described
above. Once the roofing contractor has welded the membrane, the PVC seal should be
pulled down over the cylindrical cover and heat welded around the base to the new sheet
of membrane. Finally, a cap (provided) should be placed over the anchor to provide a full
waterproofing detail.
3. All fastener points are sealed using bonded washers, some of which are fitted in Uniline's
factory. The Unieye and Corner, when fitted on site are fixed in position with a fastener
which should have a torque setting of 50Nm. Over tightening the fastener will cause the
bonded washer to deflect and prevent it from sealing the top of the anchor. These
washers must never be replaced or substituted with a non-bonded product as this will
invalidate the anchors performance guarantee.
4. Other fastener points are sealed using boned washers or gaskets, which are fitted in
Uniline's factory. These components must never be replaced or substituted as this will
invalidate the anchors performance guarantee.
Important Notes:
Do not allow the roofing contractor to tighten down nuts on the tops of the cylindrical covers. If
you need to secure them because you are returning later to fit components, use a standard
stainless steel nut.
Upon completion of sealing by the approved roofing contractor, the installer should satisfy
themselves that all of the anchors have been sealed in accordance with this technical
instruction.
Please ensure that all components are fitted in accordance with our technical instructions are
correctly sealed, tightened and torqued down.

Data Sheet Number 0949, 0950, 0951), you
will notice that the range of Force Management Anchors uses only three sizes of the base
3. A wide range of metal decks are available to building designers and as such it would be
difficult for Uniline to hold stock of the base plates that permit you to fix to the crown centre
of each type. Fortunately, as you will see from the example shown on page 3 metal decks
have reasonably wide crowns and this has enabled Uniline to produce just three base plates
that will fit a wide range of metal decks. As we use standard tooling to produce the plates,
metal decks that fall outside the range of the standard base plates can be accommodated,
providing we are given technical drawings of the metal deck and reasonable notice of your
requirements.
4. The enclosed data table shows the most common metal decks used in the construction of
single ply membrane/ bituminous roofs and provides you with an easy method for the
selection of the appropriate Force Management Anchor. Further more it allows you to advise
your installer how to determine the position at which they should drill their fixing hole as
described on Data Sheet 0933 Pages 4 to 8. When drilling the pilot hole, (if you know the
insulation depth before you begin your project), you will know when you have hit the crown
by using a depth gauge with your drill.)

2. Parts URSP052/53 are end/corner anchors for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 System
options.
3. Parts URSP055/56 are variable corner anchors for use with the Uni-8 System. URSP043/44 have
M12 fixings for securing part number UI0404-VB.
4. Part URSP054 is an intermediate anchor for use with either Uniline Synthetic or Uni-8 system
12. UK ONLY - THIS IS THE ONLY ANCHOR WE ARE ALLOWED TO INSTALL ON SARNAFIL
ROOF SYSTEMS. ROOFING CONTRACTORS MUST THEN FOLLOW SARNAFILS TECHNICAL
INSTRUCTIONS.

1. The base plates for the URSP050 series anchors are not coated with PVC and as such
must be sealed in accordance with the roofing manufacturers technical instruction in
order to ensure that they are watertight. An example of this sealing detail is shown on
page10.
2. Each anchor is supplied with a weather cap and a stainless steel cable tie. AFter the
roofing contractor has sealed the anchor, including the cylindrical casing, the membrane
should be secured to the casing with the stainless steel cable tie at a height 150mm
above the roof surface. This prevents the seal from moving / migrating down the casing
whilst it cures and ensures long term water tightness. The weather cap should then be
placed on top of the casing and the component on top of the weather cap. In order to
form a watertight seal, the fastener which secures the system component in place is
supplied with a bonded washer. The fastener should have a torque setting of 50 Nm.
Over tightening the fastener will cause the bonded washer to deflect and prevent it from
sealing the top of the anchor.
Upon completion of sealing by the approved roofing contractor, the installer should satisfy
themselves that all of the anchors have been sealed in accordance with the manufacturers
technical instruction.
Please ensure that all components are fitted in accordance with our technical instructions and
are correctly sealed, tightened and torqued down.

Product Data
The fixing detailed above is supplied by Uniline and is designed to be used when fixing through insulation to a concrete
deck. The anchor is secured mechanically to the concrete, this is achieved by pulling a cone into a sleeve. The sleeve is
forced against the side walls of the hole, securing the anchor in place. The full fastener can be seen on page 1. For
fixing instructions refer to Datasheet 0995.
Note: The socket MUST be fitted into solid concrete with a minimum strength of 25 N/mm² (C20/25) . If there is a layer
of screed on top of the concrete you must counter bore it to access the concrete.
Fixing Selection
Min 25mm
Fixing Areas
The socket supplied for fixing into hollow core slabs is the same as the product (shaded)
shown on page 2. It is recommended that you fit the mechanical socket into the
hollow core to avoid drilling into the rebar which runs along the length of the slab
( see fig 1). Before fitting to a roof of this type, obtain details of the slab type so
you can choose the most suitable Force Management Anchor.
When fitting the anchor into a hollow section the expansion of the sleeve forms a
Y shape. The holding strength in this appilcation relies on a combination of
expansion pressure and form-fit. For fixing instructions refer to Datasheet 0995.
The socket requires a miniumum depth of 25mm of concrete to provide a solid
fixing. Where insulation exceeds 300mm - consult Uniline.
Note: The anchor MUST be fitted into concrete with a minimum strength of 55
N/mm² (This is for a C50/60 grade on a Bison hollow core slab). If there is a layer Rebar
Figure 1
of screed on top of the slab you must counterbore it to access the concrete.
