Zaqueo en el Árbol
Retiro 12/03/2022
Opening Prayer:
*Sister Claudia 10-10:05
Directions: You make a large circle and you start moving your arms and
walk around. While they are walking around, someone says: Imagine
you are on a boat and the boat will sink unless you are in groups of a
certain number. Examples are: 8, 10,12 or 15 kids in each group. If
some kids are left out, they are out for the rest of the game.
Zacchaeus was a small man but he had a big heart. How many times
have we felt like our hearts were little?
When we don't do the right things.
Have you ever been to a football game or a parade and couldn't see
anything? Among so many crowds (people) we can't see anything and
we tell our parents or uncles to put us on their shoulders. This is how
Zacchaeus felt when he wanted to see Jesus, because he had heard that
in his town, Jericho, a man came who was very good and people did not
stop talking about him.
Zacchaeus wondered, does he have something to say to me? There he
felt the love of God since he was not behaving well, he stole from
others and abused his power.
But he went looking for them and his life changed. He stopped doing
bad things and followed him. Thus he found happiness. When we stop
doing things that are not good in our life.
Second Game: The Hula Hoop Game 10:31-10:45
You make a large group of kids in a circle. They must hold hands and
they pass the hula hoop from one side to the other. It must go over
their body, their head, their feet and their arms in order to get it over
without letting go. There will be a point where one child gets both of
them and must pass them both in the opposite direction. Whichever
hula hoop makes it back to its original spot, wins!
Our friend Zacchaeus finally met Jesus! After getting up on the tree and
Jesus going to him to tell him to get down, Zacchaeus quickly got down
to talk to Jesus. He was very happy to finally meet Jesus in person.
But there was one problem, everyone knew that Zacchaeus’ job was
not good because he took taxes from people and sometimes he would
charge them more than he needed to. The people in the crowd were
talking to each other about how Jesus was going to go stay at the house
of a sinner and they were probably saying other mean things about
him.
There have been times when we see others getting things that we want
and we start to think that they don’t deserve it. We have to remember
that when we don’t see them, they could be doing the right thing and
know in their hearts that sometimes they may be doing the wrong
thing. Zacchaeus knew his job was wrong and then even admitted to
Jesus that he would give half of his things to the poor and then he also
says that if he ever took more money from someone, he would repay
them four times the amount that it was. That means that if Zacchaeus
ever took $100 extra from someone, he would pay them back $400!
Jesus could see that Zacchaeus was being honest about everything he
was promising. Jesus then goes on to tell him that with his promise that
he made, he brought salvation for him and for his family. And not only
that but we learned that when we look for Jesus, not only do we find
him but we also find what we lost, which is our faith, our honesty and
our love for each other.
Questions:
-Where the people in the crowd happy that Jesus was talking with
Zacchaeus?
-How did Zacchaeus feel about seeing Jesus?
-After Zacchaeus talked with Jesus, what did he promise he would do?
-What did Jesus promise Zacchaeus?
¡Nuestro amigo Zaqueo finalmente conoció a Jesús!
nuestra honestidad y nuestro amor mutuo.
Preguntas:
Thank you Lord Loving Heavenly Father. We praise you and thank you
for having sent your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the light and
hope of the whole world; that through Him you have given us the
virtues of being able to love, have hope and faith. Once again we are in
the Advent period. In this time of advent we must float our hope and
Christian faith. So we are sure everything will be fine with the coming of
Jesus. We ask your blessing for all of us here present and our families;
for the sick, in need, for those who travel, and for all the unbelievers
who need to see your light. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ
our Lord, amen.
