Preparation
Introduction
This chapter covers the RedHat 8.0 .iso disk image installation procedure on VMware
Workstation Pro 15.5 and 16.2.x, Disk resource, and Sizing requirements, Network Card(s)
and mapping yum, dnf, pip and conda installations, and Firewall Port set-up for the IBM
Software Product Prerequisites of the products listed in Chapter 1.
It includes the installation procedure for the base IBM supporting products on Red Hat Linux
8.0 and Windows 10 and the Disk resource and Sizing requirements are also described.
The RedHat Linux RHCOS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS) server cluster machine
requirements for OpenShift 4 on-premise cloud installation and the support for Kubernetes
controlled containers are outlined.

Objectives
After studying this unit, you will be able to identify the prerequisite version of IBM Business
Automation Workflow required, and its use of the software components of a number of the
leading IBM Software Application Systems, including:
• IBM FileNet for Document Management and Storage
• IBM Case Management
• IBM Db2 database (LUW)
• IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• IBM Directory Services, LDAP user security system.

5. Migrate CentOS 8 installation to CentOS stream
First list repos, run:
dnf repolist
6. Upgrading CentOS 8 to CentOS Stream. Get the packages for CentOS Stream ABI/API.
This will upgrade packages to match the new ABI/API
dnf distro-sync --nobest
7. Reboot the system again. Run:
systemctl reboot
8. For Verification, run the command:
cat /etc/centos-release
This should display
CentOS Stream release 8
Conclusion
In this chapter, we covered the “Bill of Materials” for the IBM Business Automation software
required and the related IBM Information Management Products to be installed, with the
download site URLs, Product Codes, Descriptions and size and name of the download gzip
tar files for each Software Download. Also, the update of a CentOS 8.0 system to CentOS
Stream.
In the next chapter we are going to learn about the procedures for System Sizing for IBM
Software systems, using a program called IBM Content Capacity Planner (Originally called
IBM SCout) which is used to provide estimates of performance loading.
Points to Remember
• Remember to back up the whole system before upgrading a CentOS 8.x system to
CentOS stream.
• A VMWare mapped folder can also be used to copy installation files.
• If Download Director fails to run, the download option can be changed in the
browser page to use ftp or http file download protocols.
• DB2 11.1 is the earliest fully supported Database version.
(IBM announced Continuing Support for Db2 versions 8.2, 9.1 and 9.5 will be
discontinued on September 30, 2022.)
See https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/db2-continuing-support
• The IBM Continuing Support offering does not include:
o Voice and electronic access support for code-related problems.
o Development analysis of new defects.
o Development of or packaging fixes that are not already available.
o Support for bundled or included IBM programs (e.g. "Supporting programs" or
"Other IBM Programs" identified in the License Information for the Db2 program)
and third-party components.
o Infrastructure that is not included in the software version’s Hardware and Software
Requirement page.
o Patching any database files for recovery purposes.
Questions
1. How much disk space would you provision for the downloads recommended in this
Chapter (Hint: the size is defined in Chapter 7) and how much space is required for
the installation files (see Figure 2.17)?
2. What web site could you browse to view any IBM software compatibility issues and
limitations for products for IBM Business Automation Workflow Version 21.0.3?
3. Describe an example use of IBM Business Automation software for an Insurance
company.

the internet. (eg https://asb-software.com)
• ftp/sftp - File Transfer Protocol and Secure File Transfer Protocol A communication
protocol between servers which supports the copying of a file or files from one server
to the other. With sftp this is done with encrypted communication.
